Emaciated Corn Care hey everyone...first of all i have 2 great corns and now my mom agreed that if i’m not failing any classes on the next report card then i can get another. the other day at the local petshop tho i fell in love w/ one. a 15-20 inch okeetee. the problem tho is that he is mildy emaciated and probably dehydrated but he doesnt look like he has any skin problems or anything. so basically i’m just wondering any specific different things that u have to do when caring for emaciated corn snakes? and how long after regular feedings and proper husbandry will he gain all the weight back and look like a "normal" cornsnake.

Emaciated Corn Care In this case I would feed every five days instead of once a week. I would guess that you will see improvements in two months or so. Check the snake very closely for other problems such as mites and repository problems as well. If you are going to feed it frozen/thawed defrost the food directly in warm water. This will soak the food and give the snake a little extra water.

Emaciated Corn Care yea my corns now i feed every 4 days. i will deffinately look for mites and listen for RI. but even if it has mites(altho its tank is pretty clean) thats really easy to clear up b/c at one point my corns got them so i just thoroughly cleaned everythin and then sprayed it w/ DeFlea reptile mite spray and that was it. and when i feed f/t now i keep em wet just to add that lil extra bit. but other than that stuff theres no actual diference or anything? -thanksp.s. SCS- have u seen pics of my corns?

Emaciated Corn Care Yep, I just looked at them on your profile. They didn’t look emaciated to me in these pics and they are very pretty snakes. You seem to be doing everything right so I don’t have any other suggestions right now but I will think on it.

Emaciated Corn Care First and foremost, get him/her to a vet..then take another look at that "pet store"...everyone else that posted offered alot of good advice, but your snake should still seek some medical advice.....does the outcome seem in terms of neglect, they need to be reported....Good Luck...Jenna&hammer
