How much should a baby corn be handled?

| I have two snow corn snakes, Marukka and Loa. I have had Marukka about a month and Loa about a week. They are both from the same litter and are about 6 months old. They are both still shy. How often and for how long should I be handling them? I haven’t been handling them at all for two days after they eat. Other than that I handle them about 10 minutes a day. Also; I’ve been feeding them just one frozen-then-thawed pinky each once a week which they gobble down immediately. Should I been feeding them two pinkies each? How do you know if you’re feeding them too much or not enough? |

| Hi there Sssnakegirl I think the time you spent with your pets is just fine, I also would think that it is not a good thing to handle them after eating. The older they get the more pinky’s they would eat. Personally I would say they won’t go for a second one if they are not hungry enough but that my own feeling maybe someone could help Sssnakegirl with some information. |

| Dont hanle them for about 48 hours after feeding. Other than that, handle them a couple times a day, no more than about 20 min at the time. The more you handle them, the tamer they’ll be. Also, if they seem really shy, it’s b/c they’re babies. Corns usually tame down a lot around 1 to 2 years of age. As for how much to feed them, at 6 months they should definitely be large enough to eat 2 pinkies a week. I cant see them so i can say for sure, but they may be big enough to eat fuzzies which are more healthy for them. You want to feed them something that is 1 to 1.5 the diameter of their body. In other words, food item should make a lil bulge in their belly. Good luck, they’ll be wonderful pets. |

Thanks for the advice guys! My babies are doing great - they seem very tame and healthy. Maybe I’ll be able to show you photos soon if I can borrow a digital camera somewhere. |
