 Can i put heat mat in vivarium
Hi, does anyone know if i can put heat mat in the vivarium. I have just bought a lovely new vivarium 36x15x15 do i put the heat matt against wall of viv inside or lay it on the bottom inside.
Please advise

If its a glass keep the heat mat outside underneath it and to keep the heat directly heating the viv you can put polystirence tiles underneath the heat mat.
And if its wooden drill a hole at the back of the viv and take off the plug of the heat mat and lead the heat mat cable through the hole and then connect the wire back in to the plug once you have led it through.
And again also you can put some polystirene tiles underneath the heat mat to stop the heat escapeing.

Heat mats are designed for use with glass cages, not wood ones. Use another heat source if you have a wood cage, such as a heat lamp.

No they can be used in wooden vivariums it just takes a little bit of wireing.
I use a heat mat in my wooden viv.

I have a heat lamp but is this enough!! if i put the heat matt under the viv will it still partially heat viv to aid the heat lamp

The only way to know if it is enough is to put a thermometer in the cage and see what the temperature is. It should be 85 to 90 on the warm side of the cage and about 10 degrees cooler on the other side.

because it gets to hot or because of the wiring?
