Ok, i noticed on all of your enclosures, there is some type of light, are they heating lights? Lights to see in at night or does all cornsnakes need a light? If i get an undertank heating pad, will i need anytype of light? If so what kind? Sorry i’ve never owned a reptile before and am learning. Sorry for the newbie question, but questions with answers=more knowledge which=a happier life of a corn snake!

ur on the right track... corns do not require light, i have one that gets light at night... and another that gets just room light... my just caught cali king is in the same room as the female corn, and have no dedicated light source. they do have heating bads tho... feed’em a couple times a month and change their substrate once a month or so.. ( i go much longer than that tho) do as i say, not as i do!.. they are very easily kept pets...

I would actually highly reccomend changing substrate once a week, not once a month.. and you need to feed more than a couple times a month as well, more like once every 7 days for adults, and every 4 or so days for hatchlings.. yearlings, I’d say about every 5-6 days. But no, being actuve at dawn and dusk, Corns do not need a UVB light, just a heat source. There are many ways to achieve this, and a UTH is fine :) We keep our critters in Sterilite containers suitable to their size requirements. Any questions? Just ask! :)

i understand that it is a common practice to feed your snakes on a weekly basis. It is not nessasary to feed on a weekly bassis... My male corn (who is on the large side) has eaten 3 mice or so a month.. all in one sitting and has been happy. He sheds about a month or so later and thats when its time to eat again! My girl friend who has had a female for about as long as I’ve had my male also follows the same habits. snakes are able to go periods of time without eating... all thru my life I have had reptiles, from skinks, to pythons. and they have all lived long happy lives!

Yea Red bulbs are good, cause snakes can’t see the colour Red!!! So you can have it on anytime, it won’t bother him/her.

I have 3. One’s a 50 watt, a 75 watt, and a 100 watt. I use them in different types of wether to obtain just the right temp. And I agree, infareds are the best for that reason =).

Hmm, do i need 2 or more? Could i use just one? If so what watt would be good, i’m wanting to get the warm side of the tank to 88 degrees and the cold side to 80 degress, what watt would be best?

676, I still don’t get it, why do you need 2? Like do you have 2 going at the same time or like 1 extra incase the other one breaks unexpectedly? Anyone feel free to clear this jumble up to me.
