 My First corn

I just bought my fist corn yesterday :D. I’m pretty sure it is just a normal amel (correct me if I’m wrong). Well for now it is an aquariam 12X24X12 (w/l/h).
My only question is about heating. I am using a heat lamp with a red bulb. Right now temperatures are around 90 on the warm end, and low 70’s on the cool end. I was wondering this was fine for day and night, or if I had to have a temperature drop during the night?
Well I will attempt feeding it on Sunday, and if all goes well all get to hold it next Tues :) (hard to be patient).
Well here are a couple pictures of it and it’s set up. The lightings not that great, but any suggestions on improvement are welcome.

Looks pretty good. The temperatures are as they should be, and it looks like the snake has plenty of places to hide. I usually only put my light on at night (unless it’s below 70 in the house - then I put it on in the day). I’m sure it’ll be happy :) if you want the temp a little lower, you can hang the lamp on something above the tank so it’s not touching the screen.

While we’re on the subject of heating, i built a cage for the corn i’m getting today (normal phase) and it sits on the floor. just touches the floor no stand etc. and i was wondering since ive never had one, but does an undertank heater get hot enough to catch carpet on fire?because i didnt build it really for lighting, so i need to use an undertank. ill post pics when i get my camera for Xmas. the way that its set up wont allow me to have an incandecent light fixture in OR outside the cage.i built it out of an old ping pong table and some old windows. sounds REALLY lame but youll be suprised.

Sounds cool to me. I was just trying to figure out what I could make a cage out of. Nice name by the way.

You should have some ventilation between the UTH & the ground or stand or what ever it sits on. You could add feet or wheels to your cage or a little raised frame. I don’t know that a UTH should sit on carpet either, but not sure. If you raised the cage a little & attached the UTH right to the bottom of the cage, that would work.
