I use a light bulb. What do you have the crickets in. I have some of mine in a 10 gal fish tank , some in a 64 qt rubbermaid storage tub . I use 25 or 40 watt light bulbs. I fix it so it is over the tank. But not to close to get the rubbermaid tub melting . Good luck.

how cold is your Basement. I use a regular light bulb. A 25 watt light bulb is what i would use. do you have a lid on your crickets. Because I use the fish light for one tank of my crickets. I use a low watt bulb so not to set a fire in my tanks. I make sure things wont catch on fire in my crickets.

I use a 25-40watt for my 10gal cricket tank (old one) now i use a 66L rubbermaid tub as there (to me) much better.

 Heat?

Has any one tried a old waterbed heater pad. I thought I could set a rubbermaid tub and several sweater boxes on one of them? Your thoughts....

 Heat?

I use a reptile heating pad, which is smaller and doesn’t get quite as warm.. just be warned, put a buffer between the pad and the tank if you end up using it. it gets pretty hot and crickets aren’t all that bright. I had a few fry :(

like I said before use a lizard basking light for some reason they gather under the light and are happy, they wont burn themselves.Bad thing about it(unless you want them too) is that they’ll grow faster and the mating possiblities will rise.

Don’t lizard basking light emit light which is bad and could possibly mess up the cricket behavior/cycle and cost more to operate than Lizard heat pad, however with lizard heat pad I don’t think you can adjust the heat output.

lizard basking light dont emit nothing bad, if it did, then why would they be selling it?. It does not disturb the crikets natural behavior, the light can represent as the sun to them while the heat coming out of it can be the suns rays. And you can turn it on and off as if it was night or day. If u ask me heatpad are bad. Crickets are dumb so if u leave the pad on for awhile you’ll cook your crickets alive.

Use a light as cajunkydd said. Thats what i use and they always ask, but i dont see a problem with heat pads, i have used those too, but highly prefer heat lights.
