I used a small critter keeper which is like the cricket keepers without the built in tubing. i used no substrate because it is easier to tell the condition of the container, and makes it much easier to clean. I used toilet paper cardboard rolls for cricket hides, often rubber banding them together to prevent rolling around. I used tropical fish flakes as cricket food and flukers calcium enhanced water gel for hydration. This worked great for me and my crickets thrived. I tried both oatmeal and ’cream of wheat’ at one point to see if i could use what i already had on hand, but i found that i lost several crickets in those batches, so i returned to the fish flakes. I now breed my own crickets in large rubber maid tubs also with no substrate. So you could say my cricket keeping setup has gotten more complex. Chris |
