 What am I doin wrong

I have been trying to breed crix for a while now. I am feeding a mixture of crushed cheerios, oats, fish food, some calcium powder and protien powder. For water the yellow gel quencher. I have sand for the eggs in a little metal dish and the egg carton peice on top. They are in about a 1 gallon container. The temp is warm.
Can anybody tell me wat i am doing wrong. The female crix usually die befor the week is even over.

It is kinda strange is that I found a black female cricket outside during the summer, put it in a container of sand all by itself, and laid eggs instantly.

try using soil substrate, its better for them to lay eggs in. also i would put in some cut potatoes, and mist them. also keep the temp fairly warm. it is difficult to breed crix

Firstly if your wanting to keep them for any period of time don’t feed them calcium powder! You should only gut load your crickets 24hours before using them to feed as a constant high calcium intake will kill the crickets.
Secondly if you want to breed them check they are adult (have wings) and that you have both sexes (with and without the ovipositor)
I would remove the egg carton from ontop of the laying tray and put it to one side of the container so the top of the laying tray is clear of obstruction. Keep them at 25C+. You don’t need to mist them but adding some fresh fruit and / or veg is a good idea.
