 Cant keep soil moist

The soil in the cricket cage dries out very fast and I cant keep it moist. I check evry few hours but the soil is always dried out. I heard the eggs can go about a day in dry soil. Is this true? Or should I just start over? I would also like to know how to keep it moist. Thanks!!

Dont start over mine dryed out and they still hatched. get it really wet before they nest in it and then spray it with a spray bottle like 2 times a day morning and night make sure you keep it covered so it wont dry out and if you use a light to keep the eggs warm then it will dry out really fast use a heat pad or you computer modem works great.

Sphagnum moss stays wet way longer than soil. It’s good for bacterial and odor control too. Just make sure you get a brand with no added fertilizer.
