 Accidental crickets!

Hi all, I recently started using Bed a Beast for my baby Black Throat Monitor, who’s 40 gallon tank is kept around 110F and 65% humidity, with a basking spot of 130F. I feed him large crickets, which he sometimes ’saves for later’ or they hide in his den. A few days ago, I noticed some light brown bugs in there, but just thought they must have been in the bedding? But how??, well, I was going to scrap the lot as I didn’t want bugs crawling around in there, so a few days go by and I see the same tiny bugs, but also some that looked different and were twice as big, that were hopping! Minute crickets!! I can’t imagine they’re a threat to my monitor and there’s way too many to try and catch. Whatever are they eating? Each other?? Just wondered if anyone knows if this happens alot, as it’s my first time being a cricket mom:+)

I’ve had it happen in my cane toad pen, before I switched over to death head roaches. What I did was leave a deep dish in there every night with a little cricket food in it, and every morning I’d dump all the ones that were trapped in there into a seperate holding tub. When they were big enough, I used them as feeders again.

Sounds good. I’ll give that at try. They seem to be annoying my monitor more than anything, so I want to get them out. Thanks!

its not good to keep them in there they will stress him out and believe it or not will eat at his toes, like he said put a plastic tib in there try to get it close to the substrate like burry it then they will jump in for the food and get trapped
