Just set up a new cricket habitat.. I think it pretty much covers the basics, but my first attempt failed due to a lousy batch of crickets from the local pet store. Anywho, thought I’d share some pics with everyone. The water bottle was inspired by a design I saw on here.. everything in the tub is either home-made or stuff that would have otherwise been thrown out. The only thing not shown very well is a heating pad beneath a pillowcase on the bottom and the wire mesh on the lid.
If there’s anything I should do differently, please let me know. :) ~T |

Few questions: 1)Can you give the steps and materials required to setup the water bottle system. 2)What do you feed them? 3)what kind/brand heating pad you use? I saw some lizard heating pad in a pet store but I have alway use a 60 watt incandescent bulb for heating. |

I feed them a combination of fresh greens (lettuce, bananas, apples, carrots, etc) and Jurassi-Diet gut-load. The heating pad is a small sticky contraption made by Zoo Med for reptiles and arachnids, etc.. it gets too hot to put directly under the tub, though, the crickets literally cook themselves. so I have a folded pillowcase as a buffer. |
