 HELP

Sounds like the right thing to me. the only thing I could think of that would be bad is that your gecko might get a little stressed out if you left them in there.. but since you’ve been taking them out, it should be fine.

 HELP

If you want your baby crickets to grow up big and strong, you should provide hiding places for them such as paper towel rolls or egg crates (preferably egg crates). It also reduces cannibalism. If you can feed them ground up cat/dog food, fish flakes, or dry oatmeal, do so. Although there is nothing wrong with the apple slices. I feed mine fruit and veggies as well as cricket food. They have never had fruit or veggies at the pet store so it is very different for them and they love them.

If you don’t feed them fruit/veggies daily, you need to provide them with water. NOT a dish of plain water. You need to add paper towels, cotton balls, or something of that nature. I just go with the fluker’s calcium cricket quencher- there’s no way they can drown that way.

Most people heat their tanks because it makes the crickets grow faster. They are perfectly able to survive in room temps, but not too cold. Heat makes them grow faster, but they also die faster. If you want them to live longer then don’t heat them.

When they grow to a reasonable size, you can feed them to your gecko or breed them so you will no longer need to buy crickets. Provide soil in the part of your cage where you want the crickets to breed. That’s pretty much all the extras for breeding.

This is only if you want your crickets to live. I shied away from them at first, but I realized why not if i don’t have to constantly make a trip to the petstore anymore. Good luck.
