They were maggots. I hrew it out, and then put a ew dish in, and after like 3 days it was full of eggs, so i took it out. I put them in an invubator, ad went camping for a week. I got ack and I had 1000’s of pinheads! how do i care for pins?

I give mine baby cereal flakes and fresh veggies (carrots, potatoes & broccoli) for water source. I also mist my tub of substrate until I am sure that all of the eggs have hatched. It takes about two weeks to incubate crx eggs.

I looked again today, and there were like 2,000 more pinheads! I am so excited. This is actually working. I have been feeding mine left-over salad. Is this okay? Is this all I need to feed them?

Hopefully after the worm deal, you are now sanitizing the substrate in the microwave b4 letting your crx lay eggs in it.

Leftover salad is fine, as long as there is no dressing on it and you remove the stuff that can go bad quickly like tomatoes. You need to give them something else too - like oats, bran flakes, fish flakes, ground up cat or dog food, cereal - the possibilites are endless. As they grow, you need ot start giving them more protein if you want them to grow large.

Don’t like eco dirt for raising crickets!
I use ONLY bark substrait about 3-4 inches deep they like to dig and lay eggs plus it gives the babies a place to hide!
Keep moist!
Add in egg cartons and tissue tubes too!
Mist daily! Feed well! Please read my 1st 9-10 replys on raising crickets!

I prefer clean tubs with no substrate. I provide egg rates and toilet paper rolls for them to hide in.I use small containers of steralized eco-earth for the laybox. I have been doing this for about a year and a half now. Works perfectly, and since they are in my living room it is imperative that they never ever STINK, lol!

Thats COOL too!
Mine live in the basement in a 40 gallon tall hex!
With glass top....so it works for me and there is NO stink from the moist tree bark either!
But GOOD to know! :)
Both sound like they work well for us!
Kudos to you!
