 How to breed locusts

Hello,i was going to try to breed locusts,can anybody that has succesfully done this before give me some tips or ideas that has worked well for them..i have 3 tanks that i can use for it,they have mesh tops,and i have all the lights/heatmats,how to tell male from female..etc

Well most if not all members on this forum breed the common house crickets instead of locusts so I think your out of luck here. I suggest you breed crickets instead. Anyway your local animal chain stores do not have locusts so the only way to even possibly buy them is through online. Good luck.

Hello,all of the animal shops have locusts for sale,ive bred crickets before,but i had a problem with growing the pinheads,the kept drowning in the smallest bit of water,and i had trouble with seperating them from the moist vermiculate(hense the moisture problem).
they also smelled very bad a few days after i cleaned them.
so i spent all my time cleaning,and got sick of it.
What food do you feed them on?

I used to feed them lettuces and carrots but they turned dry and moldy after a couple of day and I’m a lazy person so instead I give them dried crush oatmeal and a wet cotton ball for water source. I heard people also use dried dog/cat foods for high nutritional value.
