why not go to local shelter and see what pups or young dogs they have in,mix breeds can be just as loving as pure breeds just with generally less health problems. hope you find the perfect little buddy

Aside from visiting a shelter for your puppy, and aside from everything else everyone mentioned so far, I by far believe that the best family dog breed is the golden retriever. They were Built for a family, specially one with kids. Bred to have soft gums, to be friendly, to retrieve and learn other tricks. Awesome breed.

Other than that, it’s all up to what sort of family you have, the activity levels of the house, and how much attention the dog is going to get. If noone will be in the house during the day and the dog will be crated at night, I don’t believe a puppy would be the best choice at all as they have smaller bladders and need attention in order to grow into a healthy-minded dog.

Go to a shelter or a reputable breeder, do research at your local library or bookstore. People on a website cannot tell you what type of dog you should get, silly! Any dog can be a family dog really, it depends on you and your family. You can even google some things on breeds. In my opinion though, a mutt is a good family dog, Golden’s (some of them) can be very hyperactive, and other dogs like terriers can be too. You chose the right dog for YOU. Good luck, think shelters. ;]
