house training- i took her outside every hour.lol after a bit, u notice how often they need to go to the bathroom. once u feed the dog, take it out like 15-30 mins after.to do its bussiness. i also find, that if u dont leave food on the ground all the time, its easier to train the dog. always leave water down, but watch wen it drinks,so u kno its gunna have to pee. a 2yr old dog only needsto be fed 1-2 times a day. at breakfest time, and dinner,if u choose to feed it 2 tims. fill up the food dish, the dog will most likely eat all the food. so it shouldnt become hungry. does she kno any tricks?sit, laydown those kinda basics? if not, use treats, and praise, and go over the trick over and over again every day, and the dog will learn quikly. im not a pro,but the methods i used to train my rotty worked perfectly, if u have any certain q’s, just ask. u can PM me, if u want me to go into more detail. good luk with ur dog,i luv boxers ps, if the dog isnt spayed, then she will go into heat every 6 months, and im pretty sure the (heat) will last 4-6 weeks. the dog will bleed(drips on the floor are so nasty.lol) and male dogs will show up out of no where.(i had a male dog stay outside of my house for 2 days straight,it was rediculas)lol, so make sure she doesnt get to mate. or ull have a whole bunch of little boxers running around. also if ur gunn spay her, which i recamend,do it as soon as possable. once she goes into heat,u have to wait till she’s done. |

=] I trained my dog with treats starting off, then gradually moved to affection or play. If it’s a hard training task, using a low fat treat broken into pieces is great starting off, then moved to said affection as a reward. It’s important to switch off the treats eventually as you don’t want the dog getting pudgy as well as treat dependent. Like the last post said, a two-year-old dog should already know the basics. If she doesn’t, then I highly recommend getting a training class at Petsmart or another location. Boxers are known for a few genetic problems: don’t be surprised if she develops a minor ulser in her eyes from eye irritation. It should heal on its own; the vet will tell you when it happens on annual checkups. You should also clean out the ears weekly with a cloth or cotton swab. If you’re getting the dog from a breeder, then by all means keep in touch with the breeder if you have any other specific breed questions. Good luck with your new dog. =] be sure to tell us what you name her. And don’t worry about name attachment - the dog really wont know the difference if you use the name enough times. |
