To die so young!!
about a year ago a lady brought in a chihuahua having puppies to my clinic. she brought her in because she had already had one puppy but it was dead. so we took her in where she had about three more puppies that were all premature and died almost instantly. then the woman never came back to get her. we tried calling her but her phone was disconnected. so after about 2 months of taking care of her dog we sent her a 10 day notice certified in the mail. it was signed and returned. she did come in once to pay $20 on a $300 bill. so needless to say she couldn’t take the dog. well after her 10 days was up i decided that i wanted her. i am not really a fan of chihuahuas because they are most likely going to be the ones to bite me at work. well since we had her for over 2 months i knew her personality and we had a strong bond. she never acted aggressive or tried to bite anyone while she was there. coincidentilly there was another chihuahua abandoned at the same time she was and he was a total horror!! he was pretty mean. well her name was fifi. my stepson had always wanted a chihuahua and it was right around his birthday so i thought that would be a great present. there was only one catch. she had heartworms (not that big of a deal) and she had a heart murmur. her murmur is rated a 5/6. it’s almost the worst kind.both of the vets i work for only gave her 1 to 2 years to live and she’s only 4 years old. well i decided to take her anyway. she’s been a great addition to the family and it’s the first little dog i’ve ever had. she sleeps with me, watches movies with me and is very easy to train. well a couple of months ago she started having seizures. we put her on seizure medicine along with heart medicine and the seizures went away now that her heart has been corrected. now she’s retaining fluid from her heart so she’s on medicine for that too. i just know that she’s got about a year left and that kills me.

To die so young!! Aw, poor little thing. Undoubtedly very poorly bred at some point.
Imagine how much happier she is with you, though, where she won’t be bred again and has all the medical care and love she could want? And who knows, she could outlive expectations : )
Good luck with her. Show us some photos!!
Here’s my little one. My first dog, and he’s only 8.5 pounds wet : )

To die so young!!
awww, I’m so sorry. I feel your pain! My dog Peaches died April 9th (2008), and I will still be heavily mourning her death in months and years to come. She started out with a grade 3-4 heart murmur in about February 2008 and we think that by the time she died it was a grade 5 or a full 6. She died while we were away for 2 or 3 hours, and I think she didn’t want us to watch her die. We gave her pills to remove the fluid buildup in her lungs, and she did INCREDIBLY WELL until we took her off of them. Just have fun in the time you know you’ll have with her and instead of mourning the time you won’t have, look forward to the months you will have with her, filled with joy and inspiration. You can always give her medicine and help her to feel comfortable. I will always be here when you need someone to talk to, just PM me.
I will be thinking of you and you will be in my prayers!
