Check out the dog i MIGHT be getting

So if i get the flat i have put an offer on here is the dog im hoping to get
Here is his information and a picture of him to go along with it
He is advertised in the same kennel i got Nelly and Kimba from

Sam
Ref. No: 502/08
Age: 1 yrs 8 months
Breed: German Shepherd Dog
Sex: Male

Sam is a challenging and sad case

Sam was rescued by Cumbria’s RSPCA and is being fostered by a local GSD lover who is working on his rehabilitation and socialisation. He can be viewed at his foster home by appointment. Sam is 20 months old. He was taken to kennels as a result of a domestic emergency. The husband was apparently very volatile and was kept under sedation, the landline telephone had to be removed as it caused him to react violently and it was replaced by a mobile phone. He was agoraphobic and they got Sam as a puppy on the advice of his Social Worker in the hope it would motivate the poor chap to go out, but it didn’t. It was largely left to his wife who was arthritic, and she found it increasingly difficult to negotiate three flights of concrete stairs from their second storey flat thrice daily to take Sam outdoors to a very small communal drying green. Consequently Sam has had little or no opportunity to behave like a real dog. He`s had exposure to the couple`s grandchildren aged two, four, and six, and lived with a cat. His main fear not surprisingly is men, but does come round eventually if not crowded too much. He is better with women than men. He has shown no aggression to others dogs. At present he is entire.

Picture to follow im having problems loading it up at them moment will get it on asap

Sounds like you have a case on your hands, usually cases like that at our shelter take months to close, and the dog take quite awile to physically and emotionally heal from the abuse. I’m glad you are willing to give this pup another chance at life, not many are willing to take in a "damaged" dog. He is one lucky dog. :^)

Check out the dog i MIGHT be getting

I just adopted a german shepherd about a month ago from a shelter. He is turning out to be one of the best dogs i have ever had. When we first got him he would growl at every one he saw,was very skiddish around men and was very protective of me no one can get in between me and him .I called the shelter to get more history and they said he was most likely beaten. They had to shave his fur off because it was so matted and they’re were bruises underneath his skin, which i guess is really hard to do.His tail also has a bend in it where it was broken and his front teeth were most likely knocked out.Even though his bad past he is a great dog,he lays with me and with cuddle and plays like a puppy even though he is 6 years old.He no longer growls at people but, still will not let people in between me and him when he walks on lead .He walks great on leash and is learning new commands. He has totally changed from the dog that was growling, not listening, skiddish of men and being distant. They day we got him he launched at a friend of mine and is so much calmer in a month. So in a nut shell i think german shepherd’s are a amazing breed just because of the bad past and fear doesnt mean he will be a bad dog before, this i was not fond of the breed i didn’t think it was the right breed for us but, turns out it is.I will show pictures of him before we adopted him,he was in this shelter for more than a year since we got him we have had him groomed and he looks much better but, here is the pictures.I will get current ones if you’d like to see . http://web.mac. com/nbell1/site/ADOPTED.html#28 (remove the space between mac and .com)

I’m glad you’re adopting again, Ghastly. ^.^

Shelter dogs make some of the best pets. My family’s German Shorthaired Pointers are great dogs, but I just don’t love them that much. Delilah, the Labrador Retriever I rescued, was the best dog I’ve ever had. I really loved her.

Thanks guys i had a shepard before he was also a rescue he was the family dog but he needed a home for retirement people as he was locked and abandond in a flat so was understandable when he chewed through the doors to get too you and when you were at work it was horrible and he would chase after the car if he didnt realize that someone was still in the house he just needed a home where someone was there 24/7 which he got now

But im SOOOOOOOOOOOO badly TRYING NOT to get my HOPES UP because i may not get my flat you know but i just want him and i love a challenge in dogs cause i like the feeling you get when you have seen how wonderful they have turned out from when you had them first it makes you feel as if you done the world of good

There is also an Akita called Bear that is advertised there also i would like to get him but ONLY if someone has taken Sam as Bear just needs a firm handling he doesn’t have issues like Sam but Sam is top dog for me he has been advertised for a couple of months now also so i reckon he is meant to come live with me haha ^^

So wish me luck guys in getting my home ^^
And then Sam *fingers crossed*

Never got my flat :(
Sam is STILL advertised and in the foster home
Have been thinking you think it would be harsh on Sam to be taken out of the foster home when he is used to the people there and putting him in a stressful new enviroment?
Have been pondering on that thought for a while now
And as much as i want him im only thinking about him you know?
Just with what he has already been through

Hey, I actually don’t. It will be hard on him to stay in the foster home much longer and get into a solid routine with them and then be moved, however. Frankly, the sooner he gets adopted the better.

Dogs are incredibly adaptable animals. You do need to give him routine, though. Use a crate, take him to obedience classes once a week (even if you already know how to train them, dogs tend to really enjoy the classes and having them at the same time every week, etc.). Get him on a good feeding and walking schedule and once he bonds with you he won’t really mind the chaos. Lol the ceiling could be crashing around my dog and as long as I’m around he wouldn’t care. If you do want to adopt him, the sooner the better, in my opinion, so the move is as stress free as possible.

Good luck. Whatever you decide will be the right decision. He’s either yours or he isn’t, so don’t stress too much about it.
