Lap dogs
hey im wondering what would be a nice family lap dog to have i know of breeds such as shih-tzus are pretty popular but i was thinking of more of a stout little dog because we have a german shepherd mix and would want it to be able to play rough like a jack russel or something thanks a bunch!

Lap dogs Hmm.....french bulldogs? Boston terriers? Um.....many of the terrier breeds would be fine just make sure they aren’t teacups like yorkies. A miniature poodle would work too. I’m just throwing out ideas.

Lap dogs Be careful about mixing small and large breeds. The shepherd mix could hurt the lapdog in just a play fight due to size difference. The larger breeds that can be kept as such dogs, including the french bulldog mentioned above, would be okay though. Just something to take into consideration.

Lap dogs Adding to Flaming Flower you also have to take personality into though. I have a miniature dachshund who is the sweetest thing with people but we can’t have her around other dogs or its bloodshed.

Lap dogs Personally, I’d go with an Alaskan Klee Kai or a Schipperke.

Lap dogs I think the klee klai might be a bit too active to be considered a "lap dog". The schipperke is good though. Any of the Spits breeds would be good.

Lap dogs The papion is one of my personal favorites in lap dog breeds.

Lap dogs I have 2 Jack Russells. (male & female) They are very playful and love playing with any size dogs. They are hyper but when they get tired they love laying on my lap. I usually have one on each side...lol. This is just my own experience with Jack Russells. I wish you good luck on choosing a new dog:)

Lap dogs My parents keep their dogs where we keep our horses. They have a rat terrier and some other mixed dog. The female rat terrier plays with an adult male bull mastiff and an adult male bloodhound just fine.
