 Update on my neighbors

A short time ago my neighbors young Pit Bull dog was running loose and bite a little girl. They did not have a license, insurance or shots and it is in our lease that Pit Bull dogs are not allowed on the premises. Well, today I noticed one of the kids walking another Pit Bull puppy .These people do not seem to care whether they loose their dog or not . And think about the poor dog and how the kids will feel if their dog is taken away again . This makes me so mad !

 Update on my neighbors

They are obviously very irresponsible pet owners. I don’t know why people like that even bother getting animals if they don’t care at all. I would not be able to contain myself around people like that. Maybe this dog will be taken away as a puppy so it could find a good home.

Do you know what happened to the other dog?

 Update on my neighbors

you know, skulls post brings me a reminder of something I saw on the alligator forum...

there was a guy illegally keeping herps in NY and another guy that after we talked aboput it on the post took his side saying ’hes just like you so what if he keeps them illegally you should support him" type deal..at any rate a strike against that guy means the animals would be confiscated possibly euthenized and then it wopuld be a negative strike to those that keep herps...

If word got out and it hit the news then these people would be another negative hype for people protesting Bully breeds..very irresponsible and you know if I had JUST had a animal taken from me I would be HEARTACHED I wouldnt be going out rteplacing it a week or so later with the SAME type of animal that got taken to begin with...

wow skull sorry to hear you live by idiots...

 Update on my neighbors

All I have to say is that I would tell the apartments managment and make them aware that these people have a breed that is not aloud, the most they could do is evict the tenant that is breaking the rules.

 Update on my neighbors

No, I do not know what happened to the other puppy . I hope it found a good home . I will let the manager know about this pup but I do not have high hopes of him doing much of anything . It took me 3 months of asking to get an appointment to see him awhile back. After repeated unreturned phone calls, several letters I did finally get to talk to him about several issues here ( shootings, car windows being broken out ,drunks sleeping in the halls etc ) . I mentioned Pit Bull dogs . He said then that they had over 50 in this complex . He planned on taking the Humane Society around door to door to check on if dogs were licensed, an unacceptable breed and if people had payed the pet security deposit required here . That was months ago. Nothing has happened so far .

What I don’t understand is why would they spend money on another dog when they could have payed for the license and fine to get the first dog back ? I would have been heart broken and done anything to get my puppy back if it was me .

I have no problem with them having the dog if they take care of it . I just hope that they have learned their lesson.

 Update on my neighbors

Well I have good news and bad news . I received a notice on my door Sat . stating that this next week Monday through Friday management is having a mandatory inspection .They said that they would be looking for any pet violations . They have also changed their pet policies that will go into effect when the lease is the be renewed. Here are their new policies:

1) The following dog breeds are not allowed : any or mix of

Rottweiler Stafford-shire Terrier/Pit Bull
Doberman Dalmatian
Beagle Akita
Chow Husky
German Shepard Great Dane

or any other breed that management deems to have vicious characteristics.

Cats must be indoors only. Only domestic breeds allowed.

Maximum pets per apartment :one dog and one cat; or two cats :or two dogs weighing no more than 65 pounds combined .

Cats: a $300 refundable fee each
Dogs: a $300 refundable fee each

Plus you must have a face to face interview with management with your pet, and renters insurance and a picture of you and your pet .

Wow . Now I think this is not only a violation of our constitutional rights but just plain excessive . What do you all think?

 Update on my neighbors

Oh my god!!!!! I am really happy that Canada doesn’t have any of these laws or at least Ontario doesn’t. That seems a little ridiculous to me ,but I do not know that much about bsl and stuff like that. The only thing that might stop you from getting in a apartment here is if the lease says no dogs or only small dogs ,but they do not go into breeds very much.

 Update on my neighbors

I dont see the fees and stuff as excessive nor the # of pets as it is their place at least they are allowing them at all however I do see it as a bit excessive that they require them to be ONLY indoor cats and some of those breeds are odd to ban.. usually its just "vicious" breeds... never heard of banning a beagle tho

 Update on my neighbors

I also would not deem a **typical** Beagle as "vicious," but for reasons other than aggression I can see why they banned them. They do tend to bark an excessive amount, as my best friends’ beagles (they have an adult female and another friend got a puppy from the first friend’s dog’s litter, lol)
I think the face-to-face interviews and pics are over the top, because I don’t quite believe in first impressions (unless of course you’re a teen being judged constantly in jr. high and high school but that’s something else lol)

 Update on my neighbors

I agree with the cat rules and I think the prices are fair but I do have a problem with getting renters insurance . That will cost me at least $150 a year for my one cat .I also think limiting the number of animals in an apartment is fair .I think the reason for not allowing Beagles is because of the barking .I am not crazy about the face to face interview but I will do it . My two main objections is the renters insurance ( I thought the $300 deposit should cover any damages plus I gave an additional deposit of $150 ) and naming certain breeds .I could see not allowing dogs over a certain weight .

 Update on my neighbors

Only rules my apartment complex has are:

1. Proof of vaccinations must be on file

2. All animals must be kept quiet during night time hours

3. For certain breeds you must have proof of insurance

4. Cats must be kept indoors, if not kept indoors it is not their fault if your animal is in an accident

5. Dogs must be leashed

6. Office must be notified if small caged animals are loose

7. Animals must be restrained during inspection

8. Felines must be declawed

9. Last but not least, agressive breeds must be muzzled when outdoors

Even though belle hates her muzzle I have no problems with the rules. I am actually thinking of getting a rottweiler.

 Update on my neighbors

Management came out yesterday and the neighbors got an eviction notice this morning . They did not take the new puppy but did evict them .

I talked to the manager and he said that getting the renters insurance was recommended but not mandatory . We do need to show a letter from our vet that they pets have been spayed/neutered and up to date on their shots . I am okay and rather pleased now .

Thanks for every ones replies .
