I rescued this dog and dont know what she is..

hi. i am barely on this forum...or any lately. but, i had to show off my cute little girlie that i recently rescued. i cant believe i found her at the pound! its just crazy what people will throw away!!!

they told me she was 100% pure lab! and the people bred her to be pure lab! can anyone tell me what kind she is or how to find out? i dont think shes purebred. i have looked and looked and looked and looked on the net and cant find any pics of a dog just like her...ugh
oh and they said shes about 7 months old...

She looks like she’s half lab half springer spaniel or half lab half pointer or even half lab half collie to me...
Very cute, it’s amazing what people will throw away these days, you’re right!! But at least you got something amazing and loyal from someone else’s mistake, right????!!!!

she looks like my pup when she was little more white though

I would say she’s probably the same mix of blue heeler and pointer

ok i talked to another girl at the pound. i know her. shes pretty good with the dogs and is glad i adopted her.

she also said that the other lady was all wrong! the mother was lab/pitt mix. father, i guess unknown. lot of others have said the same about the spaniel and pointer. i dont see it though. nose is too short, hair not curly or long. very short hair-straight. her tail, thuogh i dont know if it will make a diff, is skinny and kinda short. floppy ears, unlike the ones on the dog in no-glory’s post. though, the color is similar kinda...

she does have eyes set apart, like pitt bulls. also, someone in the family said she is definitely lab and australian shepard. but, i looked that up too. longer hair on all the dogs i found.

boy! she is a rambunctous thing... lots and lots of energy. wants to ride in car. cant seem to get her to walk on the leash. doesnt understand, i guess. loves the water!! tries to talk lmao...

Her nose and build looks like a Pit Bull dog but the markings more like a springer spaniel. She is very sweet .Start training her now . I would work with her for a half hour every morning and evening on the basic commands and walking on a leash .

i still say she’s gotta be part blue heeler/Australian cattle dog because of her coloring

Pointer and heeler mix with pit bull is very possible.

She probably gets her tail, coat, and ears from her **mom**. She probably got her coloring from **dad**, who I’m guessing is either Pointer or German Short Haired Pointer or a GSHP and Pointer mix.
Good luck with her, cute dog!!!!

I rescued this dog and dont know what she is..

well, i found out she doesnt like the water! took her to the lake and she didnt like going in. and she whined when she thought we were going to put her in it...thats disappointing!

she is learning to go on the leash, so thats good. i thought i was going to have a problem there...

im trying to teach her to stay outside. i want her to be an outside dog (no room in house lol). i left her out last night. she hated it of course. but, im wondering if shes too young to understand that?

shes smart! but, loppy, as in shes is soo clumsy. most puppies are, but shes real bad clumsy! i think shell be easy to train.

Give her time she has a lot of new things to get use to. You might put an old tee shirt of yours in her dog house at night. One that you have worn with your scent on it . I would also give her a special toy or chew bone just when you put her out at night, as a treat . You want her to associate her dog house with some thing pleasant . You don’t want her to feel like its a punishment . Go sit with her for awhile and play before you leave her out there . She will get use to things just encourage her and make a big deal out the accomplishments she makes . Don’t expect to much of her at first .

i was thinking there was some healer also. the colors are right on to a healer mix we had. but, i never knew what all was in that dog...

i dont see any spaniel! or any pointer, but im no expert either. im just going by what i found on the net. there could be some shepard, but i dont think Australian anything....but, iduno...

that pointer/healer in No_glory’s post looks like it might have some pitt in it.

i’ve always though so too but no one else agree’s

all i know is the day we picked her up at the shelter the guy who dropped off their mom, as well which was a red heeler, the dad of unknown breed but if u look at pointers they have that square head like a APBT as well so it could have come from either side.

Callie my dog at full size is about built like a heeler short and stocky but her head/ears and bark sound differnt as well as the way she acts

I say pointer is a def. possibility. The markings, the ears, they say pointer for sure. I def. can say I see absolutly no pit bull in the facial structure, although I didn’t see much body. So I’m just going to say pointer mix. Sensho should be able to point out the pointer.....lol. I don’t really see heeler either, the muzzle is much to round and the ears are floppy.

By the way, If you look at an Austrailian Cattle Dogs (Blue Heelers) facial and jaw structures are very simialar to that of a Pit Bulls, only difference is that the "Blue Heelers" Muzzle is pointier or more narrow. So mix of Pit Bull may be possible, but not likely.

ok i tried to get some more pics...but the little stinker wouldnt sit still long enough...so i had to play with her....

sorry the middle pic is so dark. i forgot to fix it before i saved it...

funny..she got a little vicious/growly with my chi last night. hes a lot older and not to keen on her energy level, so he warns her a lot. i guess she learned how to growl back! kinda mean like...

I can really see the lab in the ears and eyes, but I’m gonna guess dad was a pointer of some soart. I honestly cannot see any pit bull in her, but it may show when she’s older. She a beauty, goodluck with her.

Dammit all! What do I have to say time and time again? Don’t instabuy dogs if you don’t know what species you’re dealing with! You have to research, research, and research at least for two months on that type of dog, have a vet in your area to take it to, set up the tank a week beforehand, and make sure the temps/humidity are correct!

Nah, I’m just fooling with you =P I have no idea what kind of puppy she is.

LMAO....too funny!! im like wha...

well, went to a parade in town and brought the pup, cause everybody does... and some people walked up and said "my dog!!" i turned around and held tighter to Jersey. turned out they were the ones that gave her up...they were happy to see her go to a good home and saw how good she was taken care of.

i guess, they told me anyways, that the father was Golden Retriever/mix with autralian sheep dog . and the mother Black Lab and Pitt.

so i guess thats where she gets the markings? didnt someone mention that an Aussie sheep dog was the same as blue healer?

well.....neither do i! but, iduno....i do see the healer and lab. and thats it!

i told him about you guys seeing the pointer and they said "no way!"

i mean..it doesn matter. shes a sweety anyways...shes starting to get into some trouble. not allowed in the house while no one is watching her... tearing up wiring, knocking over garabge, pooping in the house...

i expect it! though, im going to teach her a new road! i hope she settles down by winter...

What a combo! lol A real All-American, Heinz 57! The best breed IMHO. :) BTW....what’s her name?

Have you considered crate training? Done properly, it’s the easiest way to house break and teach her boundaries while inside.

Good luck with the pup.

haha did i forget to mention her name??? Jersey! simply because she looks like a cow.

is the crate training where you have a crate handy if she mis-behaves? lol i will need something for this winter, when its too cold for her outside. right now, shes learning, bedtime means outside. i cant be up to train her not to tear the cushions up lol. all night anyways...our other dogs are outside, besides the chihuahuas. they are not destructive. must be their breed cause they never have been.. HER on the other hand...

i think shell be a good dog though. she doesnt leave the yard. and our gate is usually closed, but has this one bent section where the little ones, including her, would have a chance at getting out. she hasnt tried so far...

and she is now afraid of the car! the other day, my mother in law left and jersey was underneith it. she got stuck underneith. she wasnt hurt, but was truely stuck! and it scared her. youd think she would have moved when the car started, but i guess not. now she runs to the porch when the cars are moving. hard lesson for her!
