Hello everyone. This is my first time in the dog forum-I hang out in some other forums. I do not have a dog (would love one though!). My boss asked me if I know anyone who runs a rescue for labs. She explained to me what is happening so here it goes:
Her neighbor has a chocolate lab that bit a kid but did not break the skin, her kids and some other kids were in the yard playing and the dog got protective of "his" kids and bit one of the visiting kids. Well the dog was deemed a dangerous dog-turns out he is very protective of his family and has growled and went after other people before but never bit anyone until now. She was going to put the dog to sleep but could not do it, thankfully. She got the dog obedience training but he is so protective of her kids that she is afraid he will bit someone else plus her homeowner’s company is ready to cancel her policy. She also has to get a $1 million bond from the state of PA which is not cheap. She really loves this dog but the neighbors are making it such a hassle for her to keep it so she wants to find a new home/rescue for this dog where there will preferably be no kids and where the owner can devote a lot of time with the dog to get him better trained, etc. Hopefully I explained everything correctly!
If anyone can help her out please pm me with the info and I will provide it to my boss.
