Rescue found tied up at work

Went to the vet clinic for work Saturday to find a 6 month old Irish Wolfhound mix tied up to the front door in the rain. Get this: he was microchipped! I called the idiots and they said, quote, "we don’t want him" and hung up.

So I reported them to Animal Control, changed the chip info, etc. etc. and took him home. My friend at the rescue is fostering him and will probably end up adopting him, so he’s a lucky boy! He’s already 65 lbs and has a ton of growing left to do!

If only I could have another dog....I LOVE this dog. A ton. Lol.

We think he is Irish Wolfhound X Lab. Because he was chipped, we found out that the owners registered him as a "Lab Mix". My guess is their friend’s lab had puppies with an unknown dad so they figured they would be lab sized, but it turns out dad was an Irish Wolfound and 110 lbs at adult weight is a bit different than 50-60 lol.

I personally think there’s some Pit in him, perhaps mom was crossed with Pit? It’s hard to say, but Irish Wolfhounds can be Brindle, especially with puppy coat.

If you get a mutt puppy that looks like an Irish Wolfhound, you’d think it would cross your mind that "oh, this cute little puppy will be large in six months, do we have enough food, space, and time for this?"

SIGH.

Tomorrow he is going in to be neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, blood tested, have a fecal sample, etc. etc. Good thing they are doing it for free! Lol.

It’s always a mystery how so many animals find me when I’m not even looking for them! But he’s such a doll, we love him tons. My friend who is adopting him takes him to the beach every day with a really long leash and he jumps and splashes in the water for hours if you let him, retrieving sticks and acting like a lunatic. That’s another reason we think lab : )
