Beware of these toxic flea and tick products!

I was looking for information regarding the best flea and tick preventives when I discovered this.

Link

It’s a list of flea and tick products that are considered harmful and, or deadly to cats and dogs.

I wish I had known this information sooner. I actually treated several of my cats with two of the products listed there a few months ago. Nothing happened to my cats, luckily. I’ve been reading tons of stories of cats and dogs that have died after being treated with the very products I used. I’m really shocked.

I didn’t find any sources, proof, or resources behind the products listed. Just, "DANGER, Will Robinson, DANGER!" and a list of products.

Any flea and tick product is a small poison to the skin of your animal to kill anything that may bite your animal. In effect, you’re poisoning your pet regardless of which product you use. Same with vaccinations - which stifles an animal’s immune system temporarily to, in effect, protect them from the problem in the future. Man was I surprised when a rabies shot this weekend sent my 11 year old cat into a high fever. But you don’t see people boycotting and refusing to give their pets vaccinations, do you?

As it is, though, animals react differently to different products. I used biospot a few years back on my cats - because a vet I no longer like said that ’it would treat earmites’ that the cats didn’t have - and two of my cats showed breathing issues, rash, and fur loss to the applied areas while my other two cats at the time were fine. Same issue with Hartz and one other product I found at Meijer. Some cats were fine with it, others did not react well at all. My dog so far has been fine with any products I put on him, so long as I follow the directions and buy the right box. The only reason I’ve had to not use a flea/tick preventative has been the intense smell coming off the stuff.

On the by, most poisoning cases from flea/tick medicines is more than often directly caused by the owner not buying the right stuff. Such as giving dog medication to cats, or giving adult cat medication to kittens. Or giving too much of the stuff in too close of a period (such as once a week instead of once a month).
