 Question about ears!

Hello, just wondering what the AKC standard is for a pitbull ears. Question is can you enter a dog in a show with is ears uncropped? I found a site that said " Ears are high set and may be natural or cropped without preference. If natural, semi-prick or rose are preferred. Prick or flat, wide ears are not desired."
Does anyone have an example of high set semi-prick ears that you can find on the internet, compared to flat wide ears? I would like an example and your help would be much appreciated.

You can enter a dog in a show without cropped ears, if they cropping of ears for Pits is the same as Dobermanns high cropping is what you usually see a Pits ears as were its no higher than and inch from there head amd have been cut to shape, a flat cropp is were the ears have been altered the exact same way to stamd erect only they havent been cut to a shape so for example take your dogs ears amd hold them up thats a wide set

As i saod if it is the same meaning in Dobermann terms then ive explained it right if i could upload pics i would for you!

Also forgot to say that for uncropped dogs flat ears is usually for dogs with Labrador style ears so a Pitwith Lab pike ears wont be acceptable and half pricks is were they are naturally stand but have a little tip on fold i will post a pic of my old dog Kimbã her ears were natural half pricks the uncropped ear should be a normal pit ear

im sorry i cant upload any pictures to my photo list as my laptop is broken and my iPhone doesnt accept that "command" so hopefully someone can add pics to my info

Last I checked..... AKC didn’t accept pitbulls, I’ll have to do some reseacrch but I’m pretty sure that hasn’t changed.

No, not even ckc has a standard on the pitbull, and they do designer breeds, sorry, I would imagine natural would be the standard being that cropping didn’t start until fighting them came along.

True. If you’re not showing and are just curious...check out the AKC standard for the American Staffordshire Terriers, close enough for comparison.

Or just jump over to UKC and check out the APBT.

Oh, and to answer your question, yes...they’re half pricked. Is she young? A good majority of puppy’s ears got through crazy stages when they’re teething.

Yup im just curious. Your boys ears didn’t have a drastic change. to me they stayed with the same figure IMO. But i hope my dog ears are going to stay the same, i like the way he has them set and how they flop over his head. Just like pic 1 in

your pits ears are like my Milla’s plus they both have the same facial expression and by the looks of it same face & body build too :) very nice looking pup I would say they are puppy ears ;p as JaneDoe posted her boys ears they will change as they get older hopefully they should be by the looks now i would say wide high half pricked set but as i said that could change as he is still growing alot evan his ears

I love the ears, they give her sort of a look at me I’m a silly dog with a great personality, they are cute. Alot of people are leaving their pitbulls ears natural rather then getting them crop, cropping tends to make them look mean and thats what we are trying to get rid of. Not to mention, getting their ears cropped can cause infections and ear sores, My aunts male great dane joker was just treated for ear infections.

Well with just one pic, its hard to tell. But everyday his ears were doing something different. Both were half pricked for some time. Yes, they’re rose now.
