If you have cats then don’t get it. Advantix will kill a cat and it is not a pretty way to dye. They go in to convulsions and if you get them to the vet fast enough, the cat might be savable but they will still have convulsions for week after. I have seen this personally! Just some cat info on it. OX |

Another really good flea medication for dogs is canine advantage. Thats what I use on my dogs and it works great. Remember never to put any flea medications made for dogs on cats and vice versa, always use canine products on canines and feline products on felines. Don’t use any cheap brands like hertz or bio spot, we have been having people come into the ER vet clinic because they used that stuff and it cause their cat or dog to have seizures or lose hair like crazy. We had one cat come in that was having a seizure bleeding everywhere, when we asked the guy if he has used anything new on the cat he said he used dollar general brand dog flea medication. Now tell me that wasn’t stupid. and on top of all that he didn’t want the cat on an IV he couldn’t afford it. Don’t use flea carpet and furniture sprinkle or spray either. |

I am not as misinformed as you think I am. I am a vet tech my self. The worst case that I have seen was when the owner was too tired and put about half a container of advantix on there cat (it was for a dog that was over 100 lbs!!!) He just didn’t realize what he had done until it was too late. Luckily he survived, but he was still seizing 2 weeks later. I have even seen all the reactions to the bio-spot and all of that as well. I prefer to use frontline for ticks and advantage and comfortis for flees. Comfortis works the best for my dog. As for me, I would not use advantix if I had cats because they could lick it off of the dog, or come in contact with it from the dog. Yes you could separate them, but I personally don’t want to take that chance. That is my personal choice. So no, I am not misinformed, I was just giving my opinion. OX |

I use K9 advantage or advantix on my dogs and revolution on my cats. I’ve been doing it for years and my cats have never come up sick, because they don’t lick the dogs back. Being a vet tech, you should probably know that all canine flea medications can be toxic to cats, doesn’t matter if it’s frontline, advantage, or comfortis, it’s not just the K9 advantix. I’m not even a vet tech yet and I know that. I wonder who else on here knows that. Probably almost all the dog owners. So I’m thinking you are a little misinformed. Sorry dude. |
