 Sore on paw

Over the last week my corgi, Yuki, has been paying attention to his back paw. Licking it and all that. I thought it was odd, checked it out, and the area between his large pad and toe pad looked a little sore - like he scraped it.

Tonight, a day or two later, I looked at it again and it’s now more noticeable that he cut his paw. It looks a bit sore, but not draining pus or openly bleeding.

He’s not limping. He runs, plays, and eats fine. The only thing is that he licks it. There’s nothing noticeable in the wound.

Obviously if it starts smelling, his paw swells up, or he’s bleeding everywhere I’ll take him to the vet. But I’m wondering if there’s any natural fix in the meantime? I’ve already put some antibiotic ointment on it and put a sock over his paw to prevent licking.

 Sore on paw

Milla done this she was 12weeks she scuffed a small bit of skin off her back feet on sone glass on the street, she didnt lick it luckly (was too sore) she just sat but had them hovering off the floor.
What i done was cleaned it with Savlon antiseptic spray to rid of infection and then i applied Savlon anti-septic cream (it protects the wound and heals it almost instantly). But if you have the Savlon make i would definetly use it! Its quite popular in Europe.
Definetly dont let him lick it it only makes it worse and keels the wound open.

 Sore on paw

I would put some neosporin or any antibiotic sav on it and wrap it in cotton bandage once and over with an ace bandage. Even though dogs saliva can help heel their wounds, it’s on the paw, he’s walking through dirt and bacteria. Having to constantly lick the paw can lead to an OCD problem even after the wound has healed, and licking to much can keep the wound open.

 Sore on paw

Random update:

The creams have kept it from getting infected and I’ve been keeping an eye on him. The sore is now a scab and healing nicely.

It’s not hardcore OCD, but he will lick his paws once in a blue moon if he’s bored. I can get him to stop very easily by keeping him busy. That’s the thing about active herding dogs: they have to be active... and herd. He’s happy so long as I order the crap out of him, or give him a toy to watch, bring back to me, go after, and so on. Amazing how that works.
