 Attacked!

So last night i was out with Milla. We went to our usual place to go toilet and to play ball, now very rarely there will be another dog in there but this time there was a Border Collie. Now most people on here know i hate everything about Collie dog’s alway’s have alway’s will so im always wary of them due to past problems.
Now Milla and i started to play fetch the Collie joined in i didnt see anything wrong with that, could wear eachother out.
Now everything was fine for the 10mins they played fetch for needless to say the Collie always got the ball, but the one time Milla got thr ball that was the problem!
Milla caught that ball and the Collie got her from the side and clamped his jaw done on her face, Milla barked and howled at them sametime due to it hurting the more Milla screamed the more the Collie shoke her head with it’s jaw. I ran to get the Collie off Milla were as the Collies owner just stood there and watched. The whole time i was trying to get Milla out of the Collies mouth it always had her by the head and shaking her constantly and Milla kept on screaming.
Then the worse happend apart from her being shoke around like a ragdoll toy, the Collie threw her up in the air grabbed Milla on her way back down to earth he grabbed her again and silence... Milla didnt make anymore noise!
I pinned the Collie down on the ground and was stomping it’s neck with my foot and i eventually let go off her.
I took Milla’s collar off and put her in the dog recovery position lifted her head up and breathed in her nose & pumped her stomach and i done that for just over 5mins then she came round she tried to lay on her side and i got uo and left her ran at the Collie and punched it in the face and threw it to the ground, I then stormed up to the guy and was nose to nose with him and screamed at him asking "why the f*#~k did you not help?!" his response was "it’s a filthy Bull breed! It’s gonna do that to other dog’s when it’s older, so it need’s to knkw how it feel’s!!" and then he stormed off i just stood there gob smacked!
When i went back to Milla she wa still all over the place she couldnt walk, she was unresponsive to her name let alone my voice in general was just completly spaced and wide eye’d, her face was and still is swollen it is the size of a adult APBT face on a 16week old pups body her face is that swollen her eye’s are pretty much shut, her tongue hangs out yet her jaw is clamped shut, her forehead has deep puncture wounds on it and a bald part too, she smells due to he anal glands opening to the event and she smells like milk that has gone warm, she is skittish and a complete nervous wreck - total different personality and she has a huge air bubble under her forehead where the air has went through the deep puncture wounds.
But i took her straight to the vet she got 2 injections - first one was anti-inflammitary & the second was pain killer. She got a check over and has been given the all clearfor under surface damage and the only damage is what you can see. She went back this morning has yet again been given a good check over and the vet was hapoy that she is getting more back to her normal self despite her ugly face she has at the moment. She got some pain killer and anti-swelling tablet’s to take home and is going back on Wednesday afternoon to make sure she is eating and drinking fine as she isnt able to eat due to her face being that swollen/puffy but she is starting to drink and has had a small amount of scramble egg.

Before anyone start’s i am aware it wasn’t correct of me to punch and stomp on it’s head, i personally don’t care i have never liked the breed due to all the bad outcime’s i have had when i’ve met one and now this happend. So if you want to have a go i don’t care i would never to it to my dog unless she done that to another person’s dog and i’m sure if it happend to anyone else they would do the same since trying to pry it’s jaw open wasn’t helping, she is 16weeks and he neck and head are fragile as anything.

So if you want to bad mouth me i don’t care as i said if it was anyone else i’m sure they would have done the same

Aww I am SO sorry what happened to Milla. If I was you I would have had a go at that owner too! My dogs have been almost attacked by two small breed dogs, within the last 2 months. The first time around I was walking Prince and around the block this little I’d say poodle mix ran up to us and tried attacking him, I was trying to body block them from each other but that little dog just wouldn’t stop.. Finally the owner came out and called it back.. Then the owner apologized to me, and said what a beautiful pitty I had.. I asked if his dog even gets along with dogs and he said sometimes yeah.. I was thinking to myself.. why would you let a dog out with no leash that try’s to attack other dogs? I’m glad that was a little dog because if it was a big one Prince would have tried to fight back. Prince dont mind little dogs, but when he sees a big dog he always wants to play with them.. and I know if a big dog would have come up aggressively he would have attacked it back. Prince just looked at that white poofy dog like it was nuts!! lol.

The second time I was walking Prince in a new area in my subdivision that I usually dont walk him.. And we passed a house and a little toy yorkie came up and tried to chase us. He got about 1 foot from us when his owner called PRINCE back really loud, and off the little rat went. I guess its name was prince too.. It was funny when my dog Prince heard that he turned back really fast like "whoa you know me??"

I really wish people would leash their pets. I’d never take my dogs to a dog park because of the idiots, such as the collies owner. If my dog went and attacked another dog Id be on top of my dog trying to get it off, even if Prince attacked that little poodle mix Id be on top of him getting him off. That guy is very irresponsible.. You should have gotten his number down to pay for those vet bills and make sure that collie had all vaccinations.

You should have gotten the dog’s tag numbers or the guy’s ID before departing. Then filed it. The guy should be paying your vet bills.

A few weeks ago I took my corgi out to piss. He gets a bit territorial at the neighbor’s Shepherds, so I keep him on a leash. Then this car drove down the street, and a very large boxer was running behind it. Was the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen.

My dog barked at the boxer, and the boxer went from running after the car to running at my dog. Next thing you know there’s a scene of malice. I was trying to hold my dog so he didn’t up and ’defend me’ from the boxer, and the boxer wanted to kill him. The thing was foaming at the mouth, and trying to slip its jaws past my arms at my dog.

The guy stopped his car and called to his dog. His dog didn’t comply and got even more hostile, grabbing at my dog’s neck. I hit it, the guy jumped out of his car, and he pulled his dog away. No one was seriously injured, and I learned after the fact that the guy was walking his dog.... By having it chase his car around the area.

He lives a few doors down, and keeps his dog on a lead in its yard now. Supposedly this aggression was either a recent problem, since I’ve seen them with a much nicer boxer in the past, or they simply got a new dog. I once joked on a walk that Yuki and the boxer should be friends one day, and the guy was all, "N-No!" while holding his crazed dog back.

If I was you, I would have punched the OWNER!! That would infuriate me, and I would expect the owner to cover Milla’s medical bills, or at least partial coverage. It is a dog owner’s responsibility to leash their pets, and this infuriates me.
My prayers are with you and Milla, for a quick and healthy recovery!

Thank you everyone :) so far within the 12hours of me making this topic Milla’s swelling has went down SO much instead of having a Mastiff size head it has went down to it’s normal shape were as her muzzle is still swollen and has taken the same shape as a English Bull Terrier now ... So she currantly looks like a APBT X EBT but it beat’s Mastiff size head by a mile!!

The area it happend in is a old abandon cemetary not many people know about it and people that do stay away from it due to the spooky disturbing tale’s... Hense why i like going there as it’s alway’s dead (pardon the pun!) so since it’s enclosed and no one is there and huge wall’s people that do go let there dog off leash.
The Collie didn’t have any lisence tag on it’s collar and the man made the comment on her being a filthy Bullie then just upt and left i was just in that much shock on his comment i froze everything was white noise i found myself staring at something that wasn’t actually there. Don’t get me wrong i would like to get my cash back from him but at the sametime i’m not fussed as i don’t need it and evan if i did how long would i need to of waited for it?
All i am looking at is that it happend before the vet closed and that i had the cash lying around the house and as the vet said she is VERY lucky to of came away with what she has got and in his word’s "she is just a little superhero!"

I have had the same experience as you Ghastly, one of my dogs was in the front yard with me(on a leash)
shes a lab mix with golden retriever. When this other dog a lab ran up to her and tried to mount her, he started biting the back of her neck so she turned around and snapped at him, and thats when he went pyscho he grabbed her by her face but didn’t get a good grip. I was in shock for a few seconds and before i could stop her she grabbed him by his face and started shaking him around. After that I started to try and pull my dog off of him(she got really into attacking him) I got her off of him and she tried to run to the back yard I was watching the other dog. Before I could block him he was on her again this time I let lose on that dog(I saw all the blood on her)So I ran up to him and tried choking him until he would stop, that didn’t work so I punched him. All this was doing nothing and my dog was screaming like no other I have ever heard before so I kicked him in his balls he shrieked and let go. I had enough time to run with her into the backyard and call my mom to take us to the vet.

anyways she had to get 20 stitches on her face and chest, but a couple days after and she was back to normal.

Thats what you get from irresponsible owners

Good on your dog for standing up for herself bless the poor thing almost got raped!
Milla luckly didn’t need stitches, i thought she would have with one of the wounds but if it was a couole of millimeter’s deeper it would have been. But unlike your Lab mix my lil girl came away with awhole mound of swelling and pain killer and anti swelling tablet, guess i must count myself luckly!

Personaly I often walk my dog with mace in my pocket or on my keychain in town. That way if a situation occurs a quick spray and everything is solved, works on upset owners too.

Oh I go walking in areas like that too, then I carry a 6" 8 shot taurus .357 mag revolver. However given the option I would prefur to use mace on pet type animals.

Oh yeah it really did! Plus i seen him yesterday i took Milla along the river we were walking for 2hrs (include walking back home) well we bumped into him again, he just had a smug grin on him l
pompus face whilst his ugly mutt started circling us whilst lunging and snapping. I shouted to him to get his ugly mutt a muzzle and a f*#king leash but he just kept walking!
All yesterday the amount of Collie dog’s we met from my village to the next was unreal and everyone we met Milla got her hackle’s up, barked and growled! I would apologise to the owner amd explain why luckly they were understanding about it and all the time i would yank on the leash and say "leave" and she would but if they got near her she would start up again.
It personally doesn’t bither me if she hate’s them as then she is taking after me, the only thing i don’t like is the impression the Collie owner’s will get of her and me.

Wow that is terrible! I hate it when dog owners act irresponsibly. Stupid people don’t deserve animals. My basset/beagle mix was recently attacked by a yellow lab of all things. It was a stray and it almost killed poor Buddy. He had a puncture wound on his back and a huge gash on his neck.We took him to the vet and they put him on antibiotics. He already looks and feels 100% better. I hope Milla makes a full recovery and feels better soon!

xero was attacked alot as a puppy, always by terriers bar one which was a french bulldog. she’s good with other dogs despite this (although she does’nt like terriers) but if a dog starts a fight with her she wont back down. when i got abberline in april i stayed with my family for a week with xero as they live near the breeder. i took xero to a field (my family live in a village in the country side) and we were the only ones there for a while. i saw someone with a bull mastiff coming just as we were leaving, as we passed the BM went beserk at xero and xero being xero was having a go back (she was on lead).

Sorry to hear that you went through the same situation with your Buddy! It is a horrible thing to witness and get caught in the middle of!
I agree most people shouldn’t have animal’s, i hate how at my work they are all small minded and see Milla a APBT and see a breed that is dog aggressive and a fighting dog despite they know i am not that type of person to get a dog for any reason apart for being a fan of the breed. I also hate how they just cannot see a Collie do that to her as i hate how people see Collie’s as wonderful dog’s when they are - high strung, tempramental, ugly, known to bite and nip etc. Wereas i am sure if Milla done that they would believe every inch of it due to her breed, wereas the only damage she would actually do is lick you to death as that is her signiture thing to do!!

I love pit bulls. I hate all of the negative attention they get from the media. My sister-in-law owns two pit bulls, and like your Milla they would love to lick you to death! I absolutely cannot stand hearing people down-talk pit bulls. It awakens a rage in me that for a while I didn’t even know existed. It is because of people’s stupidity that pit bulls are known by what they are. Pit bulls are so loyal they will obey their master even to the point of killing another dog. It’s terrible the way people abuse such loyalty. I have seen rescued pit bulls that where used for fighting. I just don’t understand how someone could just stand there and watch such a beautiful and loyal dog get it’s leg bitten off for money. And take pride in it! What those dogs are forced to go through in the fighting ring is unfathomable. And for money! It disgusts me and angers me to no end. They are such a wonderful breed. I wish everyone would open their eyes to see what wonderful, loyal animals they are, not cold-blooded killers. Sorry for the rant. I just don’t understand it.

I really like pits ,but I will never get because I would be afraid to ruin it. As in not giving clear enough guidelines stating that I am the pack leader, haha. Thats why I will stick with golden retrievers they seem to just fall in place with me lol

p.s I noticed a lot of people think they should rename the pitbull something else, like take the pit part out. Some people including myself find it to be degrading the animal. The whole "pit" thing, as in pit fighting. I don’t know it just might help with all the misconceptions.

LovesGeckos:

i am the exact same as you! Everytime someone talk’s down a Bullie the same inner anger come’s out of me too, i just open my mouth and let my belly rumble!
People here know that in Norway APBT are illegal and i got Milla from a breeder in Poland a d at my veet and pet insurance etc she is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier (they are legal here). Now when my work found out she was a APBT they freaked and now act a little different round her, the say they don’t but i see it! They don’t go down to her leval to recieve kisses no more, some of them don’t pet her or through a toy for her they have just changed. All of this happend as iasked my boss who has 2 golden Labrador if she ever had problem walking them in busy place’s, and another boss said it shouldn’t be a problem unless it’s a Pit Bull type of dog and Hazel (my boss with the 2 Labs) said that’s what i had and Aniita started saying aslong it isn’t a American type as they are illegal and totally started ranting about how untrusting they are along with how ugly and agressive. I ended up saying that she was a American Pit and i am aware she is illegal hense unlike her i went to college worked my poopie head off for 5years studying animal care amd vet nursing and unlike her i have a higher degree behing me in a decent job, i also told her to meet Milla and like everyone else at my work get a good impression of a well raised APBT who’s parent’s were campion show dog’s and like most APBT actually LIKE the breed and don’t get it for malice sport’s and i ranted and raved and pretty much lost my job as i was saying quite horrible personal remark’s to her.. But i don’t care no one like’s her anyway... But that’s how some people not all are funny with Milla when i am off and if i go there if i need to check or collect something, but i also found that the people that are funny with Milla now look at me in a different light than usual they just see me with a fighting dog not with a 16week old pup that is alot moretrained than my bosses 2 Labs!

Saucier:

i think they should be called American Bull Terrier’s! It sound’s more cival and it doesn’t make them seem outcasted from the American Staffordshire Bull Terrier (Am. Staff), Staffordshire Bull Terrier (Staffy, Stafford, Staffy Bull, Nanny Dog) and the English Bull Terrier (Bullie, Bull Terrier). Plus i think American Bull Terrier sound’s alot nicer than American Pit Bull Terrier! Evan if proper breeder’s (not BYB) sell them as American Bull Terrier and BYB/dog fighter’s sell them as APBT it would show you which one to get as a family pet, do you want one with no aggressive history and be wonderful around children as they are if so go to a American Bull Terrier breeder, or do you want one that is chealer has agressive parent’s as they were and proberpy still are fighter’s and genetic’s could end up playing a part and to save a few bucks risk your kid’s life (as i am sure that’s were all the ABT attack’s come from) go to a fighting breeder and get a pup for a fraction of the price and taint the breed’s name.

But i’m gonna call Milla a American Bull Terrier on here for now on so if you see ABT it isn’t a typo!

I totally agree about the name change! I think the name itself has a lot to do with all of the controversy. When people hear the "pit" part in pit bull they automatically think "vicious fighter" or cold-blooded killer". People need to learn to not judge a book by its cover (or its name in this case). What a great idea!

We should make a petition on change the breed’s name from American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT) to American Bull Terrier (ABT).
I do agree most people are proberly put off by the "Pit" part of the name.

When I here pit I think of the negative aspect of the breed, when they are usually a very positive dog.
