shadow is not a cross breed he’s pure hovawart his colours just not a reconised 1, but if u look in bruce fogles dog enciclepidia theres a pic of a black hovawart

Sorry I didn’t mean to imply that he is or isnt a cross I believe you I have just never heard of a hovaworts before. Maybe I will google it and see what I can find. No matter what he is he is a pretty dog.

thanxs, u prob havn’t heard of hovawarts because they are a german breed and there arn’t many in the uk, hes not the proper hovawart colours which are ither golden or black and tan but u can somthimes get the palin black with a white patch (like shadow)

If there aren’t many in the uk there are probably less in the US which is probably why I haven’t heard of them!

Like I said above very cute dog! He looks like he would be a herding dog (like original bred for herding)

Both mine are Black and Gold. I’ve had Sadie 4years now I found her as a stray when she was about 10 months old. I had an expert look at her last year at a show to see if she was pure. Patrick I’ve had for seven weeks now, He was a rescue from a puppy mill, he was in real bad shape. But he is doing real well now that he is in a good home. He will be 5 years old in feb. I’ve been to one show and that was last spring in Minnesota but there will be another show this comming year in Virginia. I will take both Sadie and Patrick, although I won’t let Patrick go thru the conformation test. Not with his past abuse. It would be to stressful for him. We enjoyed just seeing the dogs and learning more about them. If you haven’t been already, then go to a hovawart show. Everyone was very friendly, at lease they were in this club.

awww there beautifull!! we did go to a hovawart show but because shadows not the classic black and tan colours he wazn’t exspected to win anythin (which he didn’t) so we havn’t been to any more, i would still love to go though,

Sadie isn’t registered. but the club let her do conformation. And she got a ribbon, even though she was the only Altred female there. We were still proud.( I always new she was in class of her own ha,ha) Here all three colors are recognized, Black&Gold, Black and Blonde.
