Pics of my babies The cougar and the bobcat are my pets. They are not to be released. I have been a wildlife rehabilitator for over 6 years now and have rehabbed many wild animals. I only keeps those that are rescues or non-releasable. I have 2 raccoons currently. The raccoons will be released later this month. I work with several zoos in my area and donate wild animals that can’t be released as well. It’s a very demanding job, but if you love animals, as I do, it’s very worth it. Cora my anaconda, I’ve only had for 2 months. She is a cutie, but she can be a nasty little snake! They are definitely not for a beginner.

This may sound odd, but it has been... pretty much my dream for a long time now to open my own wild life rehabilitation center. im sure you are really busy... and i have been doing a lot of research, but some input form some who is actually doing it would be wonder full. so maybe if you could tell me some basics about how you got started and what the experience is like i would really really appreciate it. thanx! sista soulja

Pics of my babies I run my "center" out of my home. I do it all myself. I get no help from the state or my county. I am not non-profit, so all expenses come from my own pocket. You will need to check with your game and fish commission and see whether they offer wildlife rehabilitation licenses. You most likely will have to do volunteer work under a licensed rehabber in order to get your license. The best advice I can give you is....if you love animals and want what is best for them, learn, learn, learn. I have studied the internet, read many books, and talked to other wildlife people on how to deal and care for wild animals. The main goal is to get them back into the wild where they belong, strong and healthy and disease free. You will also need to get at least two veterinarians(the more the better though) that will administer medicine to you as well as their knowledge on what to do in emergency situations. Also, work with your local animal organizations and zoos, they love those who are willing to volunteer.
It isn’t an easy job, there are many animals that are sick, injured, and they don’t make it. But, for each one that doesn’t, there is one that does. That makes it all worth it.
Hope this helps, good luck!

Pics of my babies Wild animals cannot be tamed. Domesticated animals can be tamed, but not wild animals kept in captivity.
