Could happen, you never know. Every once in awhile something thought to be extinct pops up again, like the prehistoric coelacanth fish. Although, the odds of this one still existing is lower because of its massive size.

Unless it lives in the sea, I think it’s just about impossible to miss something so huge. But there are endless possibiliteis..

Yep, the megalodon was and possibly is the greatwhites daddy, much much bigger. I think it is possible, we have only explored 1-2% of the ocean, who knows whats out there.

we have explored MORE then 1-2% of the ocean i think your thinking that we have explored 1-2% of TRENCHES.

little off. but close.

acualy they lived 10-20 million years ago and they couldn’t deal with the prussure and prey change

It only takes 10 thousand years to create a fossil plus most of the 10-20 thousand slot was the last great ice age

 Fact Or Fiction??

This post is old, but intriguing. Now, I know there are many species we thought went extinct. I’ve studied them in my free time. It’s one thing I absolutely love to do.
It’s amazing what we find.
However, the megalodon is not likely to have survived. We do know about the way these creatures lived, and it seems very unlikely they would thrive in extremely deep waters that some people believe they still survive in. And it’s for a very simple reason. They are very similar to great whites. Since they are so big you might think, well maybe they feed off of giant squid, or what have you. BUT you have to realize that they most likely fed off of a mammal. Like great whites, they NEEDED mammalian sustenance and were not built to catch the fast moving prey that would be large enough to sustain them in the deep ocean.
Then again, there is plenty of time in there that they could have adapted sure, but then you have to think about all of the ecological factors that apply. Often times animals that adapt that drastically to a quick changing environment don’t thrive for long.
Now, I don’t know everything, no one does, but I think I hold a pretty good point.
And just so I’m not a super bubble burster, there is always the possibility they DID survive...and what could they possibly feed off of? Well...sperm whales and elephant seals are mammals, and they go PRETTY deep ;)
Who knows.

 Fact Or Fiction??

i’m a little sceptical about this.they may still be out there but would have had to dramaticly decrease their size because everything else has decreased size over the thousands of millions of years. maybe they have very large teeth but would have to be small- like only 20-30 ft. long.not all sharks need to feed off of mammals, actually very few do. they may feed off of giant squid, whales, seals, sea turtles,or even dramaticly smaller food. just think of it- blue whales eat plankton and krill. they are thousands,if not millions of times bigger than its prey so the same may apply to the megaladon if it is still out there.it might feed off of smaller fish and squid and carrion for all we know. it may have died off in the last ice age though. this is a very slim chance it’s out there.
another problem-with all the pressure and lack of food, how many large animals are on the bottom of the ocean?nevermind the deepest trench in the whole world!almost none!the largest one we know of on the bottom of the ocean is a shark that grows to 2 feet long, although there’s the greenland shark that gets to 15 feet but thats in the artic ocean, not the pacific.but since there’s very little food down there, how the heck would it get to 20 feet long, nevermind 60 feet long?every animal on the ocean’s bottom has to stay small to conserve energy and stand up to all of the water’s pressure.no way a megaladon would fit down there.

I don’t see the connection. And that statement is mostly false.

1) Even when woolly mammoths did it exist, they weren’t anywhere near Egypt.

2) They were mostly extinct by around 10,000 bce with Egyptian civilization beginning to grow around 5000 bce. A tiny group ( a dwarf version of the woolly mammoth) lived until around 2000 bce. But even these smaller mammoths would never have encountered Egyptians.

I’m just not sure what is the relevance of this statement.
