 Ferrets

All being well, i could possibly be fetching one home soon.

I’ve read a few care sheets, but nothing exactly states whats best to feed them.

And any other info anyone’s willing to give!

I’ve always wanted a ferret!! I love them! Would be ace to finally pounce on the opportunity to own one! ^.^

 Ferrets

They’re a lot of work, but I love them. I feed my ferrets Innova Evo ferret food. It’s the best food I’ve come across...up here anyway. I started with one ferret, but now have 2. My boy, Jules, was getting lonely and he couldn’t play rough with us like he can with another ferret, so we got our Gypsy girl. They keep the extra pounds from stealing cat food off better also. Well, good luck.

BTW, you’ll get more help if you post this in the small animals forum.

 Ferrets

I feed mine Nutriphase gold. When you let him/her out of its cage make sure you dont have any thing small or valuable laying around. They are great little thieves and will take and hide any thing they can. They need a good size cage and toys to keep them entertained. Mine likes to climb in boxes, bags and cloths. I m sure you know they will go in a litter box. They love hammocks and any thing can can crawl around in. Dont give them baths alot or they will start to smell bad. They like to play chase. Hope this helps.

 Ferrets

I’ve never owned one, but my aunt and uncle oened three, taz, dizzy, and porky...they were all very hyper and porky was very agressive due to improper care from his prior owner. Thay are, alot of work. But they are also alot like cats. they can be litter box trained, the can stay outside of the cage most of the day and get along fairly well with the other pets.

Oh If your sick do not hold them. They can catch your cold and give it right back to you. They get the same kind of illness as humans.

Cat food is actually not the best ferret food. It’s fine as a treat, but tends to be higher in fat than ferrets need. I would go with Evo ferret food. Evo also makes cat food, so be sure to get the ferret formula.

Cheerios are ok as a treat, but again, they need protein, not carbs. I would visit a local ferret rescue (you’d be surprised how many there may be near you) and visit the ferrets and talk to them. They are generally very knowledgeable and can give you a lot of great info. Plus you get to meet some really cute fuzzies : )

i like to mix 8 in 1 ultimate and innova evo ferret foods. i think they’re the two best foods i have found and in case one is out of stock for a week or so they like the other without diarrhea and stomach upset.
