 Dehorning goats

YES IT IS

they are attached to his skull and there are very thivk blooe vessels running through them it is very painful operation and is horrible if someone wants a goat they should have to accept them for what they are and have

debudding is a different thing and isnt as bad b/c they are young and the horns havent formed yet but i still dont think it would be the best

same thing with declawing cats it is very painful and has very negative side effects it is even illegal in some places

I also concur. Some goats fight to get a mate,Without the horns, the other goat will be easily matched.Goats should also have horns in case it should ever need defense.Like a cat,as "lovetheleo" referred to,they get into cat fights and such, without the claws, the cat will become injured and or it will retreat.

I know I have one. We had to take him to the vet’s office to get one of the horns cut of because he hit it on a tree and it broke and..............(need I say more?) anyway, when we went to the vet’s office there was a lady with her like 2 month old goat there. My dad was telling her about my goat and about how he butts me and all. And by the time the lady came out she disbudded hers. Im getting a Boer in a month to keep mine company, sadly I have to disbud it to keep it in line, for health resons, he almost poked my dad’s eye out.

But you wanna know the crappy thing? the vet cnarged us $30 to "operate on him" ( which all he did was pull it off, he didn’t even clean or dress the wound so we had to do that) and $30 more to put him on anasthetics so hes numb, and 5 dollars for a tetnas shot. Plus when they put him in our car to go home, the dragged his hocks across the ground, which makes me Po’d. What has this world come to?

they almost alway and should only be debudded at 2-3 days old(sometimes a week if the kid is not strong enough)
so if you are going to get one debudded the breeder should already have it done before it is even close to be old enough to be taken home.

i would find a breeder in your area and tell them that the next baby they have you want and you want it debudded

 Dehorning goats

is it already born?

if so you only have about a week to get it debudded

so if it is already too old you are just going to be stuck with a goat with horns.

show pics when you get him
