 Gambian Giant Pouched Rats

I’ve read some of the basic care on them like dietary requirements, caging, temperament, social needs, size obviously, general background info, all that. Sounds to me like I have a very plausible future companion that fits my lifestyle. However, how would I acquire one of these rats? And if anyone has had or know someone who has/had one of these animals?

I have never had one nor do I know anyone who ever has but have heard of them. They get pretty big. I found this article about them for you: http://www.rmca.org/Articles/giant. htm (no spaces). They are also illegal in certain states: http://www.altpet.net/rodents/cricetomys/gprat1. html (no spaces). It’ll be tough to find a breeder cause it looks like you have to have a license to breed them but I think I found 2 places for you: http://www.centralpets.com/breeders/mammals/rodents/breeder_rod2494. html (no spaces). They are cool sounding-keep us updated.

I couldn’t find a breeder around here that hasn’t stopped breeding them or hasn’t shut down. I’m getting a couple of fancy rats...however (^_^) I’m planning an after graduation road trip aaand there are breeders in Canada aaand I will be heading up there sooo hehehe lol.
