I think it’s awful what they do to poor animals. i once saw a video (On PETA so it might not have been real) of these people skinning a dog ALIVE in the middle of the street! They had it hanging up by its back paws and everything! It made me cry and I just couldn’t Imagen how people can do that shtuff to poor animals!

PETA usually uses old videos and photos. They do this because animals were treated a lot worse years and years ago. If you look at the photos they have of animal testing, you’ll discover that many of them are ectremely old. PETA can’t find up to date photos of animals being treated poorly so they use old photos. PETA exagerates and lies a lot.

It’s not really possible to skin an animal alive. The animal would struggle too much. Plus, the animal would die almost imediatly do to immense pain and extreme blood loss.

Skinning an animal isn’t cruel if it’s dead. It’s a waste to simply just throw a good pelt out in the trash. I don’t believe in hunting animals I won’t eat, but taking a fox’s pelt isn’t wrong. It may be gross, but it’s nor wrong.

Yeah, because some animals can suffer through a lot. But I think that if you do skin an animal, it should be dead and you should be able to eat the meat so it’s not a wast. I know i might be p*ssing off some vegetarians but animals eat other animals. Lions and Tigers, and (No not bears but it does include them) Other predators kill and eat other animals. Heck some times the animal is still alive when its being eaten. I’m sorry I got off the topic!

i too have seen the racoon dog skinned alive,its poor face when it lifts its head after being thrown in with the other (hopefully) dead ones will stick with me forever. it is very real and goes on,even if people dont wish to believe it. these people are sick individuals,who show no mercy,even if the animal was killed by being beaten to death before being skinned it would be better than the excruciating agony of having your entire skin ripped from your still feeling body. they have been found with still beating hearts and breathing raspy breaths up to half hour after being fully skinned. barbaric.

Gecko boy12, Raccoon dogs are dogs that look like raccoons (it seems quite obvious from the name).Raccoon dog’s fur are mainly used in most fur coats,gloves and other accessories.
Oh and this is particularly off topic but I figured it may help But if anyone likes synthetic fur and does not know how to tell if it’s real or not you can check by the material it was made out of.What you need to do is stroke the fur with your finger until you come to a crease (where the fur comes to a stop and shows the actual material).If there is a part (or skin showing) obviously it’s real.Now if there’s a net like the ones you see in stuffed animals (not real but in like toys) it’s fake. That’s just a simple test, heres a more complex link that can help you:

Jeeze, PETA just makes everything about animal rights seem INSANE. What a stupid organization.

Anyway, I am a vegetarian, but if someone wants to go out, kill an animal quickly (without making it suffer), and eat it, more power to them for not supporting the insane US meat industry. And if the animal is already dead, IMO, every part should be utilized for something. No sense in wasting it. However, I can’t imagine eating a fox...

Not foxes necessarily, but a few years back, I stumbled upon a documentary of people (somewhere in Asia I believe) who took dogs and other animals off the street or wherever they could find them, stick two or three in a small cage for awhile, and eventually take them out, beat them on the head once or twice, and skin them alive whether they were unconscious or not. I’m not a fan of fur anything and never will be. I do believe it is wrong to waste any part of any animal that is killed, but using fur has gotten out of control. Not only can it be cruel, but it’s unnecessary since the development of the cotton jin, and can easily go out of control. IE, tigers, jaguars, etc. And I personally, have never found fur on a human...attractive...
On the subject of PETA...I wish they didn’t take that turn they did. They could have done great things...now they’re a bunch of greedy...lunatic type people...I won’t go as far as saying flat out that they’re crazy.
While I’m at it, I don’t like the fact that each year students dissect animals. Not saying "aw poor animals this is so mean", but the waste! We dissected squid and sharks this year and just threw everything out. I tried explaining to my teacher, that if she teaches us about squid, and tells us that squid fishing is out of control because there are no laws on it...WHY is she buying squid with her own money each year, so we can cut them up, and throw them away...that’s only supplying the demand...er!
People are so silly in the stupidest way.

I hate PETA.

PETA doesn’t support circuses, zoos, horse back riding, dog sledding, many other dog sports, eating meat, wearing fur, camping, hiking, hunting, fishing, catch and release programs, species reintroductions, no- kill shelters, breeding any domestic animal, purchasing pure bred dogs from breeders, game and shows that depict animals being injured, the use of animals in movies, sites that playfully depict animal cruelty, animal testing, finding cures for rare diseases by testing on mice, and even owning domestic and, or exoticanimals.

PETA believes that all domestic animals need to be destroyed. This is why they’re supporting banning pit bulls. By banning one breed, they believe they’re getting close to getting rid of domesticated dogs. Plus, they believe that if they can get rid of one breed, they can do it with all of them.
PETA also supports shooting home less or stray animals. There were several ocassions when PETA members took guns, which were loaded with chemicals that kill instantly, and shot cats and dogs wandering the street. They said the animals needed to be killed because they were suffering, but most of the dogs that were killed were healthy looking.
PETA violently opposes no- kill shelters. This is because they want dogs to die off. They want dogs to be killed.

It’s obvious that PETA believes that in order to end animal cruelty, millions, or perhaps billions must die.

Realisticly, if all domesticated animals died off, no one would care about animals. People who aren’t exposed to animals don’t love them. People who’ve never pet a dog or have received kisses from one won’t grow up to appreciate them. Their ideas are very unrealistic.

im just curious misssky, i dont want to offend you at all, but how do you suggest that biology and veterinary students learn about animal anatomy properly without dissections? when i was in HS and we did cat dissections the cats were from the humane society and were ones who couldnt be saved, and were often found with medical problems or things like bb pellets and stuff. so they werent a waste, which i thought was pretty awesome.

and yea, PETA sucks.

and there are some places where fur is very good to wear, like extremely cold climates with people who cant afford the expensive synthetic stuff.

We have an anatomy class and they dissect cats from the shelters. But people here don’t eat cats. My point kind of was, we eat pig, and shark, and squid. I know we’re not exactly at a loss of pigs so let’s exclude that. But I don’t like how my schools waste animals bodies that could have been put to better use...plus if you knew my former biology class you’d know they are a bunch of drugged out teens who learned nothing from the experience. And part of it is my spiritual beliefs...I don’t like the thought of mutilating dead bodies =/

MissSkyTheGecko, I feel the same way. I’ve desected a rat and a squid. I’m not religous or spiritual, but it just bugged me as I was cutting open a dead animal.

I really believe that people need to respect the animals they eat, hunt, disect, etc. Many of the other students in my class were just goofing off. It really made me mad when this kid, Tanner, stuck a pencil up his rat’s anus.

I cant beliveve we are the ones doing this. and it was so sad when the rd had its legs cut off and at the end it was so sad that it was just left there skinned and tortured. here is a video that i have come across several times that always gets me i get teary eyed every time.
this video is terrible but it is my Inspiration. to help dogs and cats who get mistreated like this. i only buy from locally owned petshops owned by people i know well. and i believe in helping these animals whether they were loved or not. it’s not there fault their owners were crackheads who just bought them and threw them out on the streets. they deserve love to. just like Orphans in an Orphanage.
