Peacocks
Anyone have any suggestions for raising and caring for these lovely birds? My husband bought a pair who are kept with the chickens. The first night, the male flew away while my husband was trying to install a perch for them. The second night, she flew to the top of the coop but my husband got her down and persuaded her into the coop. She got on her perch and stayed there all night. We heard him calling yesterday and think she was going to go find him. She had all day to do this since he was calling all day but she never responded to him. We also noticed him picking on her and figured she didn’t want him back. She has gotten used to the chickens and chases them into the coop if she gets spooked which is really cute. Anyways, any suggestions will be very helpful. Thank You! |

As for original male, we heard him for 2 days and then no more. I keep thinking he may come back when he is old enough to mate. I know other people in our town have peacocks so maybe he’ll find them. Thanks again! Any other tidbits you can offer are great! |

Our first house didn’t have many trees on the property but across the street was a national park for the wild animals. We had plenty of black bears around but they never bothered us and deer. Now, we are on a wooded lot with a fox den across the street, a coyote that comes along every once in a very great while, and a group of deer. I miss the bears. Garbage day, a mother and her 2 cubs would walk down the street and swipe at the pails as she walk along. If it opened, they rummaged and ate and if not they kept on walking. I found it cute and funny Oh, I see one peacock already in the pen. That must mean the other is there also. Makes me feel better. |
