 Otters and wolves!

hi there! i love otters and wolves, my aim when i am older is to open a wolf and otter sanctuary rehibilitating otters and breeding them and also breeding the rarer breeds of otter to. on the wolf front i aim to campaign and breed grey wolves to be released back into scotland, also my aim is to breed the rarer ones as well. any comments also anyone know how much this would cost? also at the start il think ill become a vet or zoo keeper then as i have experiance caring for wolves and otters ill open up my centre. do u think its a good idea to get a permit for wolves and otters at the start so i can keep them? then when i have it to buy a otter or wolf cub and raise it? also how much do these animals cost? also i know a fair bit about both so i feel with more time i can make my dream happern.

 WOLF SAN

wolf san, please do not type like that, its really annoying and rude. also, just because ur friends have books and uve been near a wolf does not make you an expert, a zookeeper that works with wolves would be an expert. also, it would take about 5 million just to start up such a facility and even more to keep it running, everyone fed, and adequately staffed. another thing to remember would be to maybe put the main building inbetween the wolf and otter areas, because the two dont mix well... you definately would need an on-site hospital and maybe a vet, and also onhand meds, in case of needing them. its hard to do, and not something many people can do alone. find others who are interested in such things and also contact some adults who run these types of places, both otter ones and wolf ones. and wolf san, no reason for the bazillion angry faces, its rude, once again.

well, it wuold be five million if you wanted to immeadiatly wanted to get a medium sized pack or two of wolves, and it also depends on where you live. for instance, if i sold my house here in fl for 400,000 i could only get one of the same size or smaller. if i sold it and bought a house in NC, i could get a house twice th size of my current house because buildin supplies are more readily available up there. so another thing to keep in mind is location costs. on a side note- the zoo i used to work at has been in the "business" oof breeding red wolves for several years. They have one pair of wolves that are breeders and when the babie are born they are not named and have the least human contact posible. this has been quite sucessful, as their last litter of 7 had 4 or so of the pups returned to the wild. the others were sent to zoos starting up the breeding program. it is a great thing for endangered animals an it is always nice to see someone wanting to do the same. i myself would lik to open and orangutan research/rehab center one day

mostly i did took care of animals in the education building and was a camp counselor (which was awesome b/c i got to work with the woman that taught me when i went to the same camp when i was little) but i also worked in the free-flight aviary, contact yard (petting zoo area) and occasionally the wetlands area, which includes the nations only onsite zoo kayak tours, and it was a real wetlands! our zoo is very included in its surroundings, there are many wild animals that live among the bush aorund the zoo, including otters, deer, turtles, gators, and even a rare florida panther! its a small zoo but i love it more than any zoo ive ever been to. it can be packed with ppl and not seem crowded at all because of the way it is set up. after hs or college i plan on visiting Camp Leakey in Africa, an orangutan rehab center.

 WOLVES AND OTTERS

otters and wolves?! Sounds like a feeding frenzy! Ha Ha. Good luck, if that is what you wand to do, start now on research for grants and try to get hooked up with legit facilities that deal with similar animals. Unfortuantly, otters are not endangered and doing well in MO (where I’m from) plus, the wild ones are quite nasty to deal with. Wolves are a whole different story. People that breed them for release just raise them in 3 acre pens and then let them go, it’s pretty simple.
