...ok...i’ll share...it’s so sad...i really wanted to meet him...thinking about his family just kills me...i kind of wish he hadn’t been so...himself...on tv and with his wife becuase it makes me feel even worse knowing how much he loved his family and how terrible this is for them...he accomplished so many great things and i never expected him to go like this...he was a great wonderful man...i still can’t believe it...i thought my mom was lying to me to wake me up...that’s how i found out...she woke me up and told me...she lies like that all the time to wake me up and i didn’t believe her until i saw her face...i felt so sick and i refused to watch it on the news...it’s so terrible...i hope his son bob takes his place...steve was one of a kind and i’m glad he left a son and daughter behind to take on the zoo and conservation acts when they are older and terri can’t do it...i hope they are like their father...he would want that...poor terri being left with two young kids and a zoo...it breaks my heart thinking about her and i wish her the best and hope news people and other people don’t bother her about it...that would only make it harder for her

I thought it was a joke too, so I went onto the animal planet website and there was the whole article. Not only am I heartbroken (my family loves to watch his show) but also shocked. An Icon is gone.

i thought it was a joke as well when i woke up and my mum told me! he was my icon i soo wanted to meet him! im sending a sorry letter to terri and wes when i get the stamps they must be heart broken! i really hope bob or bindi takes off after their dad, but i dont think they will be able to catch crocs like he did i mean who’s gonna teach um? i couldnt belive a flipping stingray got him! my mum said it must have been his tike because if it got him any where else he would have survived:( rest in peace steve, man were you the "Crickey" ist bloke on the earth fairwell adz 
p.s. hope you have fun catching all those crocs up in heaven!

I’m still kind of in shock! I saw a show a few months back where they were teaching Bindi how to do the presentations and she said that she wanted to take over. I beleive that she will be able to do it because she has Terri, Wes, and the rest of Steve’s family and friends helping her along the way. And I too can’t belive that it was a Stingray! They’re known for being gentle! I remember petting them as a kid! RIP Steve! You will never be forgotten!

I still think about it everyday. I heard it on the radio Monday morning and chills went up my spine, I stopped what I was doing and was in total shock, I went to my car and called my boyfriend right away and told him the news. I couldnt believe it, my initial thought was "Terri and the kids"... that really strikes me hard to think about, and to think she told her kids almost right away, I cant even imagine. My boyfriend said "Well he lived a long life in the profession that he did" which is true in a sense, he knows the dangers and risks, and he died doing what he loved of course. Now there is the thing of whether or not to broadcast the video of him getting barbed by the stingray... I guess Steve once said he would want it to be televised if he were to be killed on tape, maybe to future educate people on various signs of an attack on a certain animal or just to show unpredictability happens. What is on everyones minds about that... would you or would you not want to see the tape if they showed it?
All I can say though is R.I.P Steve and god bless your family, you will be greatly missed.

I think it should be up to Terri whether she wants it seen or not. But in my opinion it should not be seen, and I personally will not watch it. It’s not fun to watch a person die........

what really sad to me is that the kids had just sent him a text message saying "we love you daddy" but it didn’t show up on his phone until right after he died. I thought it was sad anyways.

I think it will be years before the video even gets shown to the public, and the only reason it would be shown would be ond a doc. showing how it happened. Acctually i think only investigators will ever see the video. only thing we migh see is computer animation of what happened.

I WANTED TO MEET HIM SOOOOOO BAD! I actualy had a crush on him when I was younger! He’s the one who inspired me to become a herpetologist! If I were sick and dying, my last wish would have been to meet him. I just can’t believe he died...he didn’t deserve that kind of fate...at least we know he died doing what he loved.
I’ll follow in his footsteps, teach the world about animals, and make him proud, that’s for sure. I’ll do everything I can to help the animals and the environment no matter what it takes!
I feel like I knew him, even though I didn’t KNOW him, you know?

I personally miss him! When i heard he died that one day my heart fell to peices!! He was the only reason why i got my babys (Snakes) I watched his shows since i was so young! 7 years ago i got my first snake and wanted to do what he was doing. Caring for snakes and just enjoy having them as friends and a part of my family! My first snake was Jack, my Albino corn snake. He is 8 years old now. Next was Big Mama, my King Snake, Baby, My little girl King Snake, Sun Shine, My Ribbin Snake, Sweetie, Garden Snake. Now i got Mervin my BCI Boa, Priscilla my Red Tail Boa and soon to get 66% Het For Albino Male and Female. The Female is Gravid now. I Really really Miss him!! He was a person who enjoy to be around snakes, crocodiles, reptiles other animals he love. We shouldn’t remember him in tears i bet thats what he would say. We should do what us herp lovers should do for him and take care of Animals for him now on Earth. At least for him, He’s taking good care of our lost loving pets in Heaven so we should return the favor  He’s never going to be forgotten to me. But also, I’m not getting snakes just because he had them too. But he tought me so much about Snakes and i ABSOLUTELY! Love them! My best wishes are with his Family. God Bless Steve Irwin! We’ll miss You!

I love the guy for what he did...
He inspired me to want to do the EXACT same things he does...you know, catching crocks, snakes and such, and relocating them, and taking chances that could mean my life for the animals! I never thought that HE would die though...which makes me worry even more for Jeff Corwin...He’s the only inspiration I have left when it comes to wildlife...I HAVE to meet him now, it’s a MUST!!!!!!
But anyways, Every time I Steve Irwin’s name, my heart litteraly hurts. I used to go ’is the crocodile man on yet?’ when I was like three. I’m twelve now, and my passion for what he did still has not changed.

I feel like I lost a member of my family, as I grew up, I always wanted to be the Steve Irwin, the most awesomest guy in the world. If I did nothing else in my life, I wanted to meet him. When I found out he died, I grieved for days and a lot of people don’t even care which makes it so hard. Every time I think about it, I just want to cry. I feel sooo incredibly bad for his family and friends, I don’t know how they can stay so strong. There is so much I want to say about the whole thing but I just cannot put it in words how I really feel about this. I need to go do something else before I start to really think about the whole thing again, it kills me to see or hear anything about him or his family/zoo/friends.
R.I.P. Steve Irwin, we will miss you

He really was the best ever. And people at my school were saying crap like "he deserved it for messing with those animals" and crap like that. I almost got into it with some kid because I was defending Steve Irwin. At school, people were calling him a wreckless idiot. Well, then I guess I’m a wreckless idiot, just like him.
*sigh* at this rate, I’m going to die verrry painfully, and verrry young. But with pride. Lots, and lots of pride.

I dont know if this is true or not but i heard that he had a disease and he was going to die and he wanted to go out in a way everyone would remember. I dont know all the details my mom told me she heard it. But i was really shocked when I heard this. I thought my grandpa was joking when he called me. I was actually sad when i heard it.

I hope that is not true, but if it is, then her certainly went out in a way that I know I will always remember.
I chocked myself trying not to cry durring the memorial service on Animal Planet, especially when they drove his truck away! I don’t know, I just always thought the truck looked sooooo ’steve-ey’ and to see someone else drive it was...I don’t know what to say.

the thought of it makes me cry as we speak.....i absolutely loved steve.....i always dreamed of going to australia and meeting him.....ever since i was 2 i have wanted to be a zookeeper and be just like him.....he is my role model.....i will help him spread the message of animal conservation and how animals should be respected not feared
