 Rat breeding problem please help

Hello, I have been breeding 4 female rats and have always had success (they were in big ferre cage type cages. Recently I bought a suspended breeding rack. It is really nice has atomatic watering and ha 30 cages total. My problem I am having is the cages are full wire/metal, even the bottoms. 1 Rat had a previous litter so I moved them with her into her new cae and I guess she crushed them? or something by faling through the bars maybe while they were trying to nurse. Anyways Im not exactly sure how it happend but 11 of the 15 babies were dead the next morning.... and one small female rat died (but I had just bought her the day before she might have been sick already or something?) Anyways what I was wanting to know is, is there something I can do to prevent this? I thought of putting a solid bottom on the bottom of the cages, will that work? I would really hate to lose anymore babies, please let me know any advice you have. Thanks,

Matt
