Weird Death ?don’t know?
I have had my fence lizard for about 5-6 months and I have had them before. Anyways, what this is about is it died unexpectedly two days ago. The weird thing is(along with being totally fine right before the event) I think the crickets killed him??????? In the morning as I went to change his water bowl and mist the cage I found him on the ground with the crickets eating him!!! I just don’t get it. Have any of you encountered this problem.
R.I.P ZIGGY!!!!???!!!!???

Weird Death ?don’t know? Sorry for your loss...... But your not suppose to leave crickets in the tank. Should feed and take them out after a certain period of time. Cause they will bite and stress/ maybe kill your lizard. If say you need to feed over night it always good to leave cricket food in the tank like piece of fruit or veggie. Sorry to be harsh but reading through archive on this site and seeing all the people who caught there pet in the wild and them dieing an early death do to poor husbandry (sp). Plus with caring for most reptiles you should always have a temp gage going and should never try to guess the temp. Did you ever get a fecal done ? Most wild reptile Carrie some kind of parasite.
Again sorry for your loss and didn’t mean to be harsh. Just reading about them all got to me a little

Weird Death ?don’t know? I understand totally and I do not take it as harsh at all. I bought these orange cubes that say it is cricket food. Idk if that stuff is good. Also about the gauges I was in the process of getting one because i could not find the digital kind. I will definetly take your advice to heart when dealing with wild caught animals.......thank you for all of your hellp.

Weird Death ?don’t know? I am so sorry to hear your loss, though I would not have left any other living bugs together in the cage.
I do not own my pets lizard, though I have a back yard where several S.Occidentalis live. Last August,
I experienced to raise a baby lizard for 28 days in the cage. Since many of birds tried to eat babies, we had to protect and save babies. We learned that he liked tender moths to eat the most. Basically he ate, ants, spiders, flies, but little moths were treat for them. We bought crickets, mill worms, phoenix worms from pet store, though our baby lizard nor adult lizard never ate, they ate only fresh caught bugs. We gave bugs like our human being meal time. Also we took the baby out for few hours per day in back yard, let him running around, of course watching birds. September 15th, we let him go free in our back yard, as of yesterday, he has been still healthy surviving around our walnuts tree stump in hill side. Any ways, treat them like real baby, they are delicate......

Weird Death ?dont know? dude, crickets are just weird. they have no morals. i caught some crickets for my lizard, and apparently they were really hungry, so they started eating each other.
