 Need help

i have alot of experince with fence lizards i have houseed then many time but need help with one thing. i had sand in my last cage but then switched it to a different substance this causeed my little baby to die. i had him for about 2 months and he was fine please help me!

i got the other stuff at perco and its called forest floor it was kanda an experiment and i no he died of it because i always held him at night and he was fin and the next day his head was buirred in the stuff and the problem was i didnt find him died he was i little alive and semmed to be suffering so he was in my hands when he died. i dont know if he had a dieseas or something either because when i held he he would start spazing out and then become sortof paralized for a minute and then satrt flipping out agian. it just seems starange to me that he would died because he was healthy and eating and drinking the day before!

No dont use calcium sand, reptiles should not be eating their substrate, so that crosses out its main purpose, and then secondly, its not able to be burrowed in and is very ruff on them.
You could use dirt mixed with sand, or shredded coconut, or any other mulch, wood, or dirt bags that U can get at petco or petsmart.

Well with dragons is different.
You can house them on sand mixed with dirt or mulch.

and as for wat they are called.. there are like a thousand of them but heres a few..."Reptibark", (ExoTerra’s) "ForestBark",
JurasssiPet, Nature Zone, T-Rex, ZooMed, and thousands more brands that supply that stuff. Just go to any petco or petsmart.

it sounds like your lizard may have had a calcium defficiency, or it could be the bedding, with mine i just use a soil and sand mixture, but i’ve heard that just sand works too...sand is also good for your bearded dragon too...
