 How many fencies can fit in a 10 gallon tank

I have 1 female fencie and I want her to have a few friends but don’t want them to feel cramped. How many fencies can fit in my 10 gallon tank?!!!

No more than one. I keep mine in a 10 gallon, & they should get enough activity as long as you handle her & maybe give her playtime outside the tank, I try to. My fencey loves to roam my bed.

She is a western fence lizard and on the care sheet it says you should have 2-4 lizards in a ten gallon tank.

I don’t think the person said you SHOULD keep 2-4 in a 10 gallon you SHOULDN’T keep more then one in a ten gallon I keep my 4 in a 55 gallon you’d need atleast a 20 gallon to keep more than one and one shouldn’t even be in a ten gallon. personally I feel no lizard other than a leopard gecko should be kept in a 10 gallon.
Also fence lizards are not very social and handling them only causes stress so you can get them out but they’re more for looking not touching.

think of their natural enviorment and how active they are. i had one female in a 10 gallon. she was lethatrgic and alwayswas jumping on the glass. i put her in a 55gallon. she was perky, ran all over and happy. they need lots of room. right now i have one male and a female in a 4’x2’x2’ encosure.

try a bigger tank. and make sure they have lots and lots of light. without getting temps too high

A ten gallon is like throwing them in prison. I wouldn’t put any lizard in a ten gallon.

my fencie babies do good with human contact! they crawl right up onto my hand. the even take bugs right from my fingers at feeding time. right now i have six babies in a 10 gallon tank. they run around alot! they dont seem sad or lethargic. but as soon as they get bigger i am going to move them to a large standing ouside cage ( husband is currently building). i sing down inside the top of the cage and now when they hear my voice they all come running to the glass. i but ialso would sing while feeding them so they probably think my voice means food! . i know no one will believe me so i’m going to post a video of it on you tube!!! LOL

HAHa, yea, I thought that touching & moving would really stress her out, and only took her out occasionally until she got so used to me that she started running up onto my hand when I put it in the cage & she hates going back into the cage and tried to run up my sleeves, she loves running around on my clothes, on my bed, & on the shower curtain while I take my showers. Generally she is happy & moves a lot in her 10 gallon tank. Believe me, if I could afford it, she would have a 55 gallon enclosure & male friend.
