 Got another fencie

I got another fence liz today i think i’ll name him Azur or something. Are you guys sure Winky is a male? Cuz Azur is the same age as Winky and Winky actually has very light blue on the neck and Azur has a dark blue on the neck and blue on the sides. I caught him at La Verne. My Aunt has a house there and Fencies are abundant. They rum around in the house. She doesn’t really like them lol shes kinda glad im taking one.

Colors at times mean nothing. You must go by the enlarged post anal scales..

Since I thought of it, my male juvenile fence lizard is a GREAT example. Right now I’m going up the mountain with some friends to take some pics of wild life and nature. So...

When I get back I will post good pics of my male fence lizards underside and post anal scales.

winky doesn’t fight with him, and i think they are old enough to tell by color. the new one is really blue and winky is the same age and isnt/ they are almost 4 months old. and they act differently.

Shouldn’t really explain much IMO.

At any age the male fence lizard will show enlarged post anal scales. I caught a lizard that still had it’s belly button visible and it’s eye tooth. Turns out, it was a male due to the enlarged post anal scales.

Oh yeah, I haven’t had the time to do the photo. But there are plenty of topics on this site that explain it with photos.

I would take one now, except he is silent asleep buried in the bedding somewhere.

 White stuff and darker color

Hey, well i caught a western fence lizard, but after feeding him online crickets and petco small crickets (which i saw myself him eat), he has white stuff on his tail and he became a darker color on his/her top side. I actually don’t know what gender, tho, just call the lizard a him. Any ideas why he has white stuff and has become darker? Thanks

So...
I know they aren’t both male, I jst know that. Either Winky is the female or the new one is. Winky has the enlarged postal anal scales, but the new one doesn’t. But the new one( Charlie) has blue, but Winky doesn’t. Charlie chooses female like spots (like under rocks or in crevices) and Winky always is sunning himself on the basking spot. Please try to help with this imformation.

Okay, it’s quite straight forward..

The male has enlarged post anal scales.
The female doesn’t.

Males:
Have dark blue bellies and have light blue spots on their backs.
Females:
Females can have dark bellies but do not have blue dots on their back, just have black and brown spots,

Hope that was helpful thanks!!!!

Male juveniles show post anal scales. The colors you can indeed go by, but yet it’s best to go by the post anal scale method because it is 100% correct.
