 Eastern Fence Lizard and eggs

My husband caught Rango about a month and a half ago. Well come to find out Rango is a girl and when we got home from Church she had eggs. So far 10 and I don’ t think she is done. She is laying her eggs in a tree and they are fallin to the ground. WE also have her in sand not dirt. What are the chances of her hatching her own eggs and what should we do differently?

A tree? Is she outside?

And if you’re keeping her inside, are you caring for her properly? Does she have UVB? If her decor is from outside, are they baked? Etc etc?

She can’t ’hatch her own eggs’. Lizards are physically unable to do that because they are cold-blooded. You will need an incubator to hatch the eggs, but by the time it arrives the eggs will be dead (If they were fertile in the first place). The fact that she was dropping them from a tree and not the ground indicates she was having a hard time finding a good nesting place. Leave her alone and do not touch her until she’s done all the way.

Can we see a picture of her terrarium?

She is not out side we have her bonsai lookin tree and a branch from outside. The bonsai is also hollowed out so she can go in it. She ended up laying 11 eggs total.

Does she have a UVB light?

The branch from outside needs to be baked, just like anything from outside.

11 eggs sounds good -- she may have laid them all successfully.

Unless you caught her in a sandy area, switch to something like Eco-Earth. They’re not desert lizards, and she needs more places to hide under and bask upon.
