As Reptileruler said, she’s one of those fence lizards that don’t like human contact. Fence lizards usually don’t hiss at humans so she may be a hot female, which means don’t put a male in. She’s established that her tank is her territory and will defend that. Fence lizards usually don’t like leaving their territory unless they absolutely have to. Whenever I need to take mine out of my room for whatever reason, he holds on tighter, his eyes widen up, and his tail flails (A sign of fear). Roxie probably didn’t like the idea of leaving your room either, so she’d think twice about running away and may have trusted that by riding you she could find her way back. A similar behavior I’ve seen in snakes, where if you try to pick some individuals up in their cage they will be defensive, but once they’re taken out they become calm. I don’t know why that is, but that’s the way it is. |

You can just get a sterlite tub that is at least 20 inches long which costs about maybe $10. You can also make your own home made hides for them. You can do this by getting deli cups and just cutting an opening in them. You need three of these hides a warm hide a cool hide and a moist hide. Get a shallow container to put the water in. Then all you need is a substrate AKA bedding. The easiest, and cheapest way of doing this is just put paper towel in the bottom. The lizard, and the whole setup shouldn’t cost more than $50. |
