 Fence Lizards in the "wild"

Since I am seeing hundreds a fence lizards everywhere these days (tis the season), I thought I would pst some pics as I find them. We’ll see how many I end up posting but here is the first.

(hmmm. not sure why it isn’t posting. I will look at it later and try to get it to show.)

I got back from Williams, Arizona, and the bluebellies there seem a lot more vibrant than the ones in suburban California.

Yeah, it’s funny. These lizards that I have posted have been from east Ventura County, North Los Angeles County, and west Riverside County. They all seem to look pretty much the sAme. However, there is one near my office that I see every so often that is very dark, almost black. Near my house I have seen a few hatchlings over the last week. Tiny ones no bigger than an inch. It’s hard to get a picture because they don’t sit still at all.
