Light setup advice Hi everyone. I need a little help with my light setup. I bought a bearded dragon kit for my western fence on sale at petsmart and they were nice enough to let me exchange the sand and nocturnal bulb for other things(thanks to reading here on this advice). It came with a hood which I put the UVB bulb in. It also came with a dual light fixture which I put the basking bulb in. Does this sound good? Do I keep both on all day? I put the basking light above the rock and the UVB over the log. Also, there is one more bulb I can use in that dual light fixture but reading here it seems that 2 lights is good.

Light setup advice Sounds good to me. In fact, sounds like my setup. I keep both on and my current schedule is 9am - 7pm. Although there may be differing opinions on the length of time. I typically adjust the time every couple months based on sunrise and sunset times. Good luck.

Light setup advice Thanks. What wattage are you using for the basking light? I have a 20 gallon with a 100 watt for the basking light and the 5.0 UVB light. 100 seems like a bit much.

Light setup advice I have a 50W and it keeps the tank about 90-100 degrees in basking area depending on the temp of my house (ie. if the a/c is on, etc)

Light setup advice For a 20 long I’d say a 75 watt would be good.

Light setup advice Yeah I actually just got done exchanging for the 75. Perfect. Sneaky little guy managed to get on the screen and post himself right under the light when I tried the 50.

Light setup advice Can anyone recommend a good timer system? One that can be programmed on a scheudule like 2 hours on 1 off.

Light setup advice I don’t know of anything like that. There are probably ones out there that can go off a thermometer. Not sure. I just have mine on during the daytime and it turns off at night.
