 Fence lizard catching

I am a leapord gecko owner wants to look into fence lizards. I have reasearched this animal and its care and wondered if there were any harmless traps for these animals for I have the money for the care of this animal and I’m prepared but I don’t want to waste money on an animal that’s in the area

Take a tall, plastic sand bucket, and a plank of wood or something. Dig a hole in the area where you’ve seen lizards that is deep enough so that the buckets sits level with the ground. Cover it with a plank of wood just enough so the bucket is covered. Leave. Then check the trap every other day or so. The theory is, the lizard will look for shelter, see the wood, go under, and fall into the bucket where it will be stuck, because it’s claws can’t grip the bucket’s sides. Be sure that the bucket is tall enough, because fence lizards can jump. Tell me if you catch anything! Are you absolutely sure you’ve researched everything?

i don’t know about a trap, but if you see them around enough you can catch them with a simple method.
first find a stick that’s about 4’-5’ long, then take some string (dental floss works the best) and cut off about a foot of it, tie one end to the stick and on the other end make a slipknot.
now to use this you have to quietly and slowly approach the basking reptile.
(in early morning work best because they have not had a chance warm up and will be slower)
now, carefully ease the slipknot over the head to the neck, this lizard is very docile and will focus more on you then the floss. and just when it’s over the neck give a quick but careful jerk and the slipknot will tighten and the lizard will be dangling in the air, now you need to quickly take hold of it with one hand firmly but as gentle as possible while with the other getting the slipknot off from around its neck, this does not harm the reptile in any way as long as you can quickly get the floss from around it’s neck.
this also works very well, right now for my own personal interest i am keeping record of fence lizard population around the area where i herp, on a bad day i might only get 4-5 un-recorded lizards, and on a very good day from 10-20.
i would also do this for the collard lizards but i have grown tired of being bitten by those powerful jaws they have. this also does not work for reptiles with smooth scales such as skinks, they will slip right out.
if you try this method i would love to hear how it worked for you.
good luck with your herping!

Maybe you could just take your friend Kit-Kat’s lizard because he obviously doesn’t want to take care of it properly.

Your trap idea works!!! But unfortanantly I don’t have a spare tank. My trap only caught one fencie but a bunch of a-noles. It works better with bait
