 Why do they bury themselves?

Ok, I know Iíve done a lot of posting but this one is serious. I canít find my lizard anywhere! I have about 3" of dirt and I know he buries himself, but why?:S

yea definatly security he prob spends the night buried which is common for fence lizards, if he is a newly aquired lizard just give em time and he should eventually come out, if not the best thing to do is release him where you found him

 Why do they bury themselves?

I have had mine for almost 3 weeks and only once did he barry himself. Kind of weird but true. I thought a couple times that he did it for warmth but then I thought to myself why would he bury himself for warmth when he knows about the heating rock? He must have done it for the coolness.

 Why do they bury themselves?

I think it is mostly due to a security issue. My lizard both burried themslves for the first few weeks, now they both sleep in the grooves of a piece of drift wood. I havenít seen them bury themselves since.

 Why do they bury themselves?

it is because of security and tempreature, if the cage is too hot the will bury themselves to stay cool but if the substrate is warmer than the outside air they will also bury themselves, no matter the cause itís a natural behavior

I agree with Kalvin. Heat rock burn lizards, and the burns can get infected, and the lizard can get really sick, and even die. I would suggest a 60watt bulb in a heat lamp. Iíve seen too many a lizard get burned to let that one slip.
