 Best of ’06 (lots of pics)

Didn’t get a chance to make an end of the year post, so ill just give you this. Had a semi-productive year but didnt have any major trips.

Salamanders: northern red, northern slimy, blue-spotted/jefferson and marbled






Snakes: black rat, smooth green, a big racer, and a neat northern water






Also found lots of eastern milks at a local population here in the Bronx. Got a few nice pics:






Finally, I found a two-tailed lizard in a nearby park (Italian Wall Lizard). Interesting find.

I was wondering what kindof habitat did you tend to find the most eastern milksnakes, do you have a pic of one of the habitats??

thanks for the comments guys. that racer got me once or twice, they can be hard to handle. I caught that one towards the middle of the day, so he was all hyped up from basking at all. sorry, i dont have a pic of the milks habitat. ill get one soon.

i used to have a pet black racer but it exscaped. i find it every now and then but i let it go. the worst was a female black racer. it made my hands all itchy and bloody and it tingled a bit. in the end i let that one go but i wish i could find more snakes other than brahminy blind snakes, ringnecks and racers.

They can turn up anywhere, especially brown snakes. Brown snakes are all over the place, u find them just on the street sometimes even here. For like milks and stuff, u gotta go to city parks and stuff. Vacant lots also.

IT LOOKS LIKE THE WALL LIZARD BROKE ITS TAIL OFF BUT IT DIDINT COME OFF ALL THE WAY THEN A NEW ONE GREW IN ITS PLACE
